This processor 2c/4t has more than enough grunt for all your daily tasks, but note this is not a powerhouse nor gaming laptop BUT it will run Rimworld very well with its Xe ipgu.

Assumption: 4GB is soldered but you can add a 4GB or 8Gb stick to the single spare slot (correct me if I am wrong with this model). 4GB is enough if you baby how many tabs/apps you have open.

8gb is minimum usable ram these days

    • Won't even open Chrome

      • I bought one recently with 8gb on win11. Could open chrome with a few tabs but you quickly start having to use virtual memory. Mem utilization was around 90%. I slapped another 8gb on and it's a lot more usable. That said, 4gb is not good and you need to plan on spending ~$30 to upgrade to 12.

    • using a N5030 swift 1 with 4gb and runs fine if you don't have too many tabs/apps open

Oh god you poor thing. Just the OS seems to take up 4GB these days.

Think it's a no brainer on this laptop to pay $25-$30 to upgrade to 12GB.

Can get another 8GB ram pretty cheap to make a 12GB machine. I reckon it's okay if you adjust your expectations for the price paid. Has an SSD, FHD screen and a Core i processor.

  • It's amazing how so many folks think that 4gb ram is not enough for productivity. Yes, I'd love to have 8gb, heck, I'd love to have 96gb of RAM so that I'm sure I'll be able to run the next update of Chrome smoothly, but if you have a tight budget and are handy with windows optimisations, this is a pretty nifty office laptop for an incredible price. My daily driver right now is chugging along on an 6th gen i3 with 4 gigs of RAM, and I've never felt the need to upgrade (it is mostly being used for spreadsheets, xero and presentations, and I don't mind watching a movie or two every now and then despite the screen).

It will be constantly swapping out memory. The fact we have fast NVMe drives instead of slow HDDs means swapping isn't as bad as it used to be .
Still, it's not great since it will eat up more CPU cycles and wear out SSD faster. Memory is so cheap now. An 8GB laptop module is only about $27 on Amazon, 100% worthwhile upgrading

I upgraded an old Sony vaio from 4gb to 6b and it made a hell of a difference but was still constantly 90% usage. Then upgraded to 8gb then 12gb and sits at 60%. (This was from pulling some old laptops apart and making the best laptop i could from everything.
Its definately well worth having as much as you can but minimum 8gb of your really not doing anything. Chrome and Excel uses that in no time.

It's more about you can take this laptop from 4GB to 12GB for about $25-$30 and then it becomes a laptop you can do more than just present a PowerPoint or watch a movie.

While it might run at 4GB, machine will be at max utilisation and increase risk of failure (and reduce performance) for other parts. It'll be like driving a car without brake pads.

  • Is there a slot for NVMe drives?

Also, your website seems to be stuck. Can't checkout.

    with its Xe ipgu.

That's incorrect. Only the i5 and i7 models have Xe Graphics
The i3 has IntelĀ® UHD Graphics for 11th Gen IntelĀ® Processors

  • 4GB RAM, Urrgh! Wow 256TB SSD, Noice!!
