Gaming + Productivity Laptop - Budget $4,000

I'm looking for current gen recommendations for a gaming & productivity laptop.

Requirements:

  • Non-gamer aesthetic (has to be used in a business environment)
  • 14 / 16in display, 16:10
  • I believe the value for money GPU this gen is 4080 (although not cheap).
  • SD Card reader is nice to have (not deal breaker).

Budget is $4,000, not because i want to spend that much but because I'm being realistic in this crazy market.

Limited knowledge of world and events after 2021?

      • Written by ChatGPT after all…

  • Legion Pro 7i Gen 8 perhaps?

Discount has ended but it is still within your budget.

    • Not a bad recommendation, thanks.

Only issue is that the weight is kind of getting up there at ~2.6kg (without brick).

I understand that once you reduce thickness, you reduce thermal mass and hence performance… but i think i'm okay with that tradeoff.

i see that the Legion Pro 7i Slim Gen 8 is imminent - https://www.lenovo.com/au/en/p/coming-soon/lenovo-legion-slim-7i-gen-8-(16-inch-intel)/len101g0028?orgRef=https%253A%252F%252Fwww.google.com%252F#tech_specs. Only issue with this is that it peaks out at a 4060. Other markets seem to get 4070s; so this seems like they're trying to shoehorn you into the full size model…!
