Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-200mm F3.5-5.6G ED VR II Zoom Lens. This is the new VR2 vibration reduction version.
If you're on the hunt for one of these, it seems like a good price. Delivery fixed at $19 Oz wide?

For lower budget, there are Sigma 18-250 or Tamron 18-270 all in $450 range
Would you be able to give us some links mate?
ebay :)
I'm another very happy owner of one of these - and thus would recommend it highly for Nikon DX cameras. Perfect for travel - esp if you are in dustier situations where changing lenses is highly undesirable.
It's a while since I've looked but this appears to be a great price.
Places like cameraparadise sell the tamron for $469 before a hefty $75 delivery (from hk) and +$68 for nikon mount. Works to be $612 all up.
$168 cheaper than the Nikon.
Sigma selling for $415 + $75 no extras for nikon mount. Total $489
$291 cheaper than Nikon.
If you dont mind grey import
Nikon > Tamron > Sigma.
Is the price saving of 3rd party offerings worth the sacrifice in quality? Suppose that depends on ones shooting habits and expectations?
Three weeks ago I would have sooo jumped on this deal. Alas, that evil dilemma of 'want vs need' is sadly now not in my favour :(
Anybody got a spare $700 to send my way? :)
I always wanted one of these for my old d70, which sadly goes pretty much unused these days.
mildly tempted by this, but probably more likely to get an nex instead, for the portability.
But this is an awesome lens from what I read: obviously not perfect image quality, but amazing balance between iq and flexibility as a travel lens.
Just to be clear: the only difference between the original 18-200mm lens released in about 2006 and this one is the addition of a zoom lock. The letters VR are now gold, not red. The vibration reduction system has not changed since the original version of this lens was introduced in 2005. (My son has the "new" lens on hid D90.)
Having said all that, I've used this lens on a D200 then D7000 since 2008 and it's a great travel lens: sharp and useful zoom range, not too heavy. I also have a Nikkor 35mm f1.4 lens for low light photography: it's equipped with a step zoom:(step forwards or back as required!).
Same combination of Lenses on my Nikon D7000
The 18-200mm for most of the day, and then the 35mm when it gets a bit dark or its inside
Is this good for a D5100?
the D5100 is a DX body, so this DX lens fits. I have the D5100 and Nikkor 18-200mm VR II, it is a very versatile, compact setup. you'll love it! I ended up liking shooting tele so much i upgraded to full frame body + 70-200mm f/1.8 VR II, which just shoots pure magic
with DX Body crop factor, you save $$$ :)
18-200mm equals to:
27-300mm (Nikon DX 1.5 crop)
29-320mm (Canon 1.6 crop)
23-260mm (Canon D1 = 1.3 crop)
Such a good all rounder this Lens. I purchased mine about a year ago. However Im spewing I didnt hold out for the new 18-300mm by nikon. Same aperture range except 100mm extra focal length and a much higher price tag….
