  • shipping $7.95 in Australia.

    Looks low quality.

  • "… seems like a ripper deal…"

Yeah, almost Jack the Ripper good.

    • But it's the 'must have' knife set! (written in sarcastica font)

  • I only see 5 knives in this set.

    • Plus storage block = 6

      • That's a bit misleading. I mean they could make the block a two piece (one for the base) and call it a 7 piece set.

  • +6

As long as you don't give them to any ethics (like Asian, Latin Americans etc..) You should be alright as many cultures don't like knives as gifts.

  • +1

Did you just say you bought 16 of these?

  • +6

These really look like rubbish! I would avoid at all costs as they scream stamped low end junk. There's no way this is any better than your entry level stuff at Kmart, BigW.

Really poor knives and even worse value for money.

    • +1

Hey they've been endorsed by Jaime Oliver so they must be good. rolls eyes

      • +2

I'm sure the endorsement deal goes a little like this.

        • (Jamie's manager) - "Hey Jamie these guys are going to give you $50,000 just to put your name on their knife blocks"

        • (Jamie) - "Ah they look like shit so no-one will buy them but I'll take the $50,000"… Signs

A few months later catchoftheyday get a phone call from a shitty knife manufacturer to sell a shit load of cheap knifes.

Seriously though, never ever buy knifes off the Internet unless you have been to a store to hold them. You can feel and see a crap knife almost instantly and more importantly go to a reputable store and try talking to a clerk that's been there for a long time, ask what they use themselves.

  • Are you saying you bought 16 of these? what if your friends are also ozbargainers and have same idea coming up on their mind?

  • +1

They should change the name of their site to something more appropriate that actually reflects what they mostly sell e.g. 'Crap of the Day' and they wouldn't even need to register a new domain name.

  • You bought $800 worth of crappy looking knives?

  • +5

if you do end up buying them and using them, do you have to pour olive oil on everything ?

    • +2

      yes even your first Born

  • NEG worthy, as this is not a good deal. These are throw away quality and you would be better off buying one decent knife for $55.

  • These are garbage supermarket grade knife set's. You can do better for $30 at K-Mart if you want a low-end knife set.

    • -1

F*%$ don't tell the people to whom i shall be gifting these to…

      • -1

Don't you get tired of being so grumpy?

  • +2

Not everyone wants to spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars on Whustof knives or w/e swank brand the knife snobs use
For most kitchens a basic knife set is all that is needed

    • Sort of what infinite said

except the knives at K-mart I'd say are decent enough for many purposes and I think are cheaper than infinite said :)

  • A few knife snobs on ozbargain, er how odd…

    • I see no knife snobery here. I see people making the comment that if you wanted to buy the same quality as these knives, it would be cheaper to go to Kmart.
