Looks like they're price matching Digidirect:

For those wondering, it's NOT listed in their eBay Store for an additional 20% off.

        Shhh… don't tell Amazon!

The crazyness is people are asking more than this for used examples.

Is it a indication Z6 III is coming so that old stock is being cleared?

    • +1

Or the rumoured Z8 will be cheaper than first thought..

      • there is no way it will be anywhere as close as z6ii at RRP lol

        • While they will be difference price categories, they would likely fill the same product segment, a jack of all trades camera; Z8 wouldn't be in that price zone, but it'd be a straight upgrade for the Z6II.

    • Z6II isn't being replaced any time soon, but the Z8 will probably be the new 'default' it should be somewhere between $5k & $8k (the Z7II & Z9), I'd expect it to be around $6k about 75% of the Z9. If Nikon wants to own the market like they did with the D850 they could come in at like $5k and have the Z8 become the no questions asked single best Mirrorless Camera short of the flagship.

"Mirrorless" so good for taking photos of vampires.

Finally a good price, too bad Nikon lost me to Sony with their ridiculous prices and lack of genuine deals.

    • +1

Nikon lost you at ridiculous prices? What kind of rock have you been living under LOL?

Have you seen the prices of new Sony A7 bodies these days? Back in 2014, my a7r set me back 2499AUD RRP. Today A7 IV retails for 3899.

      • +1

As a member of a deals website why would you care about RRP.
Sony has been offering real world deals multiple times per year.
And they offer better bang for your buck with features vs price with those deals. There is a reason the a7iii is so popular.
Nikon is notorious for holding back features to try make you buy the next camera up. The reason they had to put out a Z II is for this very reason, they held back features on the previous version then it looked poor against competitors.

I agree with zombrex, Nikon Z lenses are ridiculous - check out the nikkor z 50mm 1.8 or a 35mm 1.8 prices. even cash cow canon doesn't gouge that much for same lense equivalent.

          • -1

@CunningRunt: dude, these are S-series lenses. Let's put it this way, does Canon make a 50mm F1.8L or 35mm F1.8L at Nikon prices? Or does Sony make a 35mm F1.8 G or 50mm F1.8 G at this price point that's just as quick?

            Come on man….

            • @dukeGR4: oh my bad, what's Nikons equivalent to Canons $250 nifty fifty?

              • -1

@CunningRunt: errrr… sir, so does either Sony or Canon make a G or L lens at equivalent focal length and aperture at around 1k mark?

don't change the goal post, answer my question. It is a simple yes, or no.

              • -1

@CunningRunt: but to answer your absolute troll of a question, that would be the Nikon 40mm F2 @ AUD265 as listed here : https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/757251

And thank god they make it 40mm which is MUCH closer to the 43mm eye FOV and not another 50mm. I have a 52.5 mm equivalent on my Fuji (kinda 50mm) and it's not really a versatile focal length.

You could have googled it yourself but you had to ask a stupid question because you can't really generate an answer to my question. And how is that productive?

I don't think you know anything about the Nikon ecosystem at all. So much cheaper than G and L if you don't mind the slightly smaller aperture at F1.8.

                • @dukeGR4: lol why are you so angry. stop name calling. I'm not changing the goal posts. Not sure which world a 35mm 1.8 and 50mm 1.8 is a 40mm f2.

Also, you go about stating RRP in your initial argument, now you're starting one off sale prices from earlier this year for a non comparable lense.

Canon make great primes, yes they're pricey but they're also @f1.2. Great quality glass.

"real world deals" - and yet the average sony bodies are still priced dearer than Nikon Z at RRP.

The only reason why a7 is popular is because of they are the trend setter. they also have more lens offering. And i say this as a Sony Alpha shooter myself - a7 is super overrated especially for the price and the value proposition is poor.

I absolutely do not agree with Nikon "holding back features", just sounds like biased talk to me.

  • Can get it under $2000 when stacked with CR or SB 2.1% cash back, and Membership Rewards discount gift cards (usually around 3.5% via your super or unions).

  • anyone gone to nikon from Sony a7 or similar?

    • +2

I have a SonyA9 and a Nikon Z6ii. Sony A9 has great AF and much better eye AF. But Nikon AF is decent for my use case (weddings) and I much prefer the Nikon Colours and editing Nikon files..

    • +1

Yes. Went from A7ii to Z6ii. Granted A7ii was a pretty old body but it’s a huge improvement. With the Sony the quality of the lenses was pretty variable. Some like the 16-35 f4, were not super sharp. Pretty disappointing for a $1400 lens, even if it is not the G or GM version. With Nikon I feel every lens hits the mark, even the cheapest member of a class like the 14-30 f4. Very happy with the switch.

    • +1

yes, i went from the OG a7R to Nikon Z6.

Other than lens selection, i'm very happy with it. so much cheaper than alpha

Tho i would recommend buying used, new camera gears are never worth the price.

  • I sold my z7ii lately and reason was the auto focusing was so bad especially tracking eye. So either I’m camping out for z8 or maybe switch system. Still have my 24-70 z lens waiting…

    • You couldn’t get good focus on moving subject or something else? My Z6 wasn’t great at tracking focus with older F mount lens but was doing quite well with the bundled 24-70 f/4. Body focus and tracking algorithm is important but probably useless if the lens can’t keep up.

And it's over. Back up to $2,664.60.

As soon as DD put their price back up….may be someone at DD mistyped a 0 instead of a 9 earlier?

  • damn, missed out again. how can this possible for only a few hours? lol
