I've noticed quite a few have Asian writing on the covers…

  • I thought WoWHD weren't allowed to sell DVDs anymore? Some legal issue or something?

    • That was the case yes, read more here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WOW_HD
They're either showing complete disregard for those laws or they have some new arrangement in place but either way, i wouldn't let it put you off ordering. You'll get your stuff.

      • I can't see anything about issues with DVDs at that link, only CDs and from that the outcome was they had to price them higher and not sell CDs in the UK that weren't available in that market.

        • +1

down to the same issue, parallel imports from a cheaper market

  • +4

Thanks mate, few good ones in there for cheap ;)

    You have ordered:
    Rush Hour (Blu-ray) Blu-ray - Region B £5.49
    Hancock (Blu-ray + DVD) Blu-ray - Region B £5.99
    Terminator - Salvation Blu-ray - Region B £5.99
Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me (Blu-ray) Blu-ray - Region B £3.49

    • Austin Powers was a great buy - I got that one too. Incidentally, Austin Powers was the first movie I ever got on DVD, in 1997 (came in the old school cardboard style case). Too bad they don't have the first one on sale.

Woke up this morning and went whoops! Forgot one, lol

        Get Smart (Blu-ray) Blu-ray - Region B £3.49

        • OzBargains have taught me to be a patient person once more.

    • Very nice

  • How long does delivery usually take?

    • anywhere between a week and a month i'd say

      • +2

Being patient for this one I'll bet! :P

  • Some good bargains, but you may also want to check out JB HiFi (deal may already be listed on here).

They have buy 2 get 1 free for $15.95 each on selected Blurays. (3 for $31.90)
Picked up The Smurfs, Bad Teacher and Bridesmaids on the weekend.

  • by god they are mostly all crap

    • +1

Don't blame the movie distributor. Blame the movie producers.

Edit - You're right. They are crap.
Although I recommend the Orphanage for anyone who like a atmospheric horror movie. (No gore, just creepy)

  • For DVDs also try bangcd.com. Some DVDs are cheaper there, for example 2.99 pounds at bangcd.com as opposed to 3.49 pounds at wowhd.co.uk. It depends on the individual DVD, so you have to try it for yourself.
    Delivery is free for both.

P.S.: I know some consider DVDs too "old-school" but for me they are sufficient, especially for older movies and the ones for the kids.

  • They have some great Korean films for sale.

  • We buy mainly CD's from them. They arrive post marked as Hong Kong, and articles are as described. They used to be called CDwow, not sure why they changed name. Many of the movies there are in the buy two get one free at JB which comes in at about $11 each, so make sure you check before your bargain is not the bargain you thought it was.

I cant see the purpose in buying dvd/blu rays anymore irrespective of price. The future is streaming.

    • +8

The future probably is, but today you can get a blu-ray with better quality, lots of extras, director's commentary tracks, and the ability to loan or resell it, or you can pay twice as much for just the movie with half the bitrate, and that takes a good chunk out of your monthly quota every time you watch it.

      You mean "Pirating"???
You can't stream what you don't have!

Obviously you're unaware of YouTube's movie hiring option?

BTW, I wholeheartedly agree with Namarrgon. Thumbs up buddy ;)

Or iTunes or Bigpond Movies or Hulu or Netflix etc. etc. etc.

          Legal streaming options are abounds.

        • -2

Obviously you guys are not into HD audio (Lossles). Try to stream that… :-)

        • +3

No, I don't stream, I buy Blu Ray.

But assuming streaming is pirating is just, well, ignorant.

      • -1

You can't discuss knowledge you don't have either, so why do it?

  • on the Australian version of this site, it says you got to spend over $60 to get free shipping
though on the UK site, it's free shipping, so then i assume we make purchases on the UK site?

and also how long does shipping take from the UK?

  • -6

Crap titles, mixed with Region A locked titles. I wouldn't waste your time. If not for the crap customer service the site has.

  • Good prices, thanks. Do they remove VAT from these prices?

    • No, the prices stay as they are unfortunately.

  • Few of mine have been marked as dispatched few days ago, but nothing has arrived yet, not complaining just letting people know :)

  • Weird.. I ordered another movie on the 3rd September it arrived today 10th September.. yet my other 5 movies haven't shown up yet.. showing as dispatched on the 21st Aug..
