there is nothing magical about it. you can as easily just lie on the edge of the bed or use something like a yoga block.
I have something similar. It's definitely more comfortable than a yoga block with sharp edges, and firmer than the edge of my mattress. A firmer mattress could work but there'd be nothing to support your head as it hangs off the edge so it'd feel more intense. As with all these kinds of devices, YMMV of course.
Is that for sleep overnight or just relax for awhile.
They're only meant to be used to relax for a while. It's an interesting feeling that may not suit everyone.
