Hi everyone,

my partner's birthday is this week so I was looking for a hair straightener for her and as per my research this is considered the 2nd best hair straightener and this is the best price I could find (if anyone know any cheaper please post it so I can cancel my order and order again)

Might be a good gift for the mothers day as well?

    I think it is the GHD Platinum+, but I don't think it is worth the price difference x benefits.

  This has ceramic plates. My wife reckons Titanium plates are better, so worth checking out the Silver Bullet Keratin 230 Titanium Hair for $20 more.

  I believe cloud 9 is better than GHD. Rumour has it that the original manufacturer of GHD sold the company and they're now made in China whereas previously they were mally made in Italy. The original owner then made Cloud 9. The perception is that GHD is coasting by on its old reputation but the manufacturing quality isn't comparable or enough to justify its reputation.

    Agree Cloud 9 seem to be well regarded, but to be fair, I think they are all made in China these days.

      Cloud 9 is made in South Korea. Just mentioning the COO as it seems like the quality dropped when they (GHD) moved manufacturing.

    +1 Cloud 9 too. Used mine daily for about 8 years now. Also better for your hair as you can adjust the temperature.

    Another +1 for Cloud 9 too. Been using it for around 7-8 years and would never consider anything else. The wide plates are a godsend for long, thick hair. It's more expensive than GHD, but well worth the investment.

  I've compared the GHD and Cloud 9 straighteners, I ended up choosing the muk 230 IR. It's been the best straightener I've owned, it glides through my long hair effortlessly and has temp control. (people on reddit seem to agree too, which is where it first popped up on my radar). I think it's cheaper as well on amazon atm.

      Hi! The first link is the straightener I use.

      Reddit discussions - 1, 2, 3 - different recommendations by everyone but overall went with the muk from discussions.
