Bought this, really nice whiskey but the RRP is BS.
Even at the shop, you can see the price of $95 crossed off.
Not a real bargain
$139 @First Choice
$95 is previous sale price @LL, not RRP.
$85 Seems a real bargain! We are talking about liquorland, not first choice.
And no, $95 isn't previous sales price. It was literally the price listed on the shelf of you lift the "sales $85" tag.
RRP is not store specific! (Not just LL!)
$95 was the previous price sold at.
It's on clearance.@INFIDEL: https://jqws.com.au/product/the-shin-blended-whisky/?utm_sou…
Is that on clearance too?
@PuppieWayne: Recommended Retail Price is not store specific!
It's often the dearest price sold at.
Not the price a store sells at.
Consumer basics!@INFIDEL: So you use fake RRP to push the product as being a real bargain.. regardless of store specific of not, it isn't a real bargain.
I recalled this being done for a specific watch shop and they were down voted out of existence.. but i guess whiskey is different.
@PuppieWayne: RRP is set by the supplier, not the store.
It's not fake!@INFIDEL: And that was the same reason the watch shop gave.
I don't think I've seen them post ever since.
@PuppieWayne: Seems you don't understand a basic of retail pricing - do a search to be better informed!
You seem very confused.@INFIDEL: Didn't you just link first choice price to justify the above RRP?
Ok mate.. but I'm the one who doesn't understand.. ok.
@PuppieWayne: Again… Recommended Retail Price is not store specific!
It's often the dearest price sold at.
Not the price a store sells at.@INFIDEL: In my initial post I actually mentioned the normal price LL sells this at is $95, so $10 isn't a real bargain.
YOU are the one who linked first choice price to push the legitimacy of the RRP.
Are you OK?
Are you OK?
Yes, I have years of experience in consumer law & retail practices.
It's very worrying when someone shows such ignorance of that!
So you use fake RRP to push the product as being a real bargain..
Lol! No I didn't!
You seem very confused. I provided a lion to RRP & the Law!As First Choice sell this @$139, which appears to be the highest price among retailers - it is likely the RRP set by the distributor.
Other stores are free to sell at a lower price, which they do.
It's your choice where you buy. Most would consider a $10 saving worthy of a Deal!
Seems only you don't!
You paid too much😉
You mention cases of fake RRP
That happens where a false high price is listed as the RRP. (That isn't the case here!)
Often when they are the only seller of the product. In that case - you can't compare prices with other retailers.
That's a deceptive practice under Australian Consumer Law. Cases like you state are brought to public knowledge.
Best to spend your copious time to be much better informed as a consumer!
@INFIDEL: The law!! Lol.
Ok mate, you aren't OK.
@PuppieWayne: Ignorance of the law is no defence!
Plenty of reliable information online (ACCC etc) on RRP & Australian Consumer Law (how retailers should act to avoid prosecution for bad practices).
Handy information in case you have a real issue!
Fortunately my attempt to educate consumers on these matters rarely runs up against such rusted on false beliefs.
Good luck as a consumer - with your mistaken beliefs, rather than be informed😜
And no, $95 isn't previous sales price.
It was literally the price listed on the shelf of you lift the "sales $85" tag.Yes, that means it was!
Again you are confused about retail terminology!I wrote $95 is previous sale price - the price you commented it previously sold at (shown by previous shelf price).
sale price
the price at which something sells or is sold at after its price has been reduced
By definition, a discounted price (lower than other stores sell at) is not what the supplier sets as the (upper) RRP!
But you claim the $95 LL last sold at IS the supplier's RRP😜
None of your argument makes sense!
Unfortunately others may be misled by your misunderstanding😢
(The reason I put in the effort to correct what you claimed.)
$139 is the most common price listed across many sites for this Whiskey.
Some are cheaper, didn't find dearer.
Just do a search! That is a good indication that the supplier's Recommended Retail Price is $139 for retailers to sell at.
It's a clearance item so once a store is sold out, they won't replenish.
No longer in stock, in WA at least, so I was unlucky.
For those still trying to order, don't forget Cashrewards, for spirits should be 2.1%.I managed to snag a bottle at South Fremantle. Purchased today by CC at 10.30am, via online there was stock, via the cashback app nothing in WA, took a punt and click south freo, added to cart, all worked out, confirmation sms to say come and pick it up
I had got this when there was a 25% CR /SB deal recently. Good drop
I am really hesitant when it comes to Japanese whiskey. They used be really good but after a huge boost in popularity they started blending their whiskeys with cheap stuff from other parts of the world (like cheap Scotch, Irish whiskey and American whiskey). Theres nothing special about it any more. You need to spend a lot of money to get a proper fine whiskey from Japan now.
Agreed, but dollar-for-dollar many cheaper Japanese blends taste better than those from other countries imho. And there's always Nikka From The Barrel. :)
No stock left ffs
This is fake japanese whiskey, just sourced and matured in Japan.
That said, it's not bad actually, 48% NCF for $85
Found 1 @ Brookside in Brisbane so going to give it a try.
Just found it in Stawell, Vic!
Waiting for SB/CR
