[QLD] Cygnett Smart Zigbee Devices (Button, Temperature & Humidity, Motion) $15 (Was $39.95) @ BIG W Stocklands Burleigh Heads

220

Was in BigW Stocklands Qld and saw that they had the Cygnett Zigbee Smart range on clearance for $15.

As per my previous post I really like the buttons, as they're large and tactile and the entire range presents itself to Home Assistant as Sonoff devices. Sadly already have some spares still from the last deal at $19.95 so don't need any more.

They don't appear on the BigW web site anymore, so it may involve some travelling or ringing around to obtain. Am assuming it's nation wide.

Good luck if you're searching for them.

    Location required.
Stocklands has multiple shopping centres with BigW throughout Qld!

Ahh sorry was only visiting the Sunshine State (where it rained for 3 days) so didn't realise. … Umm does Burleigh Heads help?

As mentioned suspect it's national but obviously only where there's rock.

Yes, that one is on the Gold Coast.

Stockland with BIG W are found up as far as Cairns. So location was needed if want to find that particular store.
Stockland is a shopping centre operator, like Westfield etc.

  • Do you need a hub for these or do they work with Smartthings?

    • +1

They do sell a hub but I'm running with Home Assistant and Sonoff Zigbee USB stick on a Raspberry Pi4. Don't know about Smartthings.

    • +1

They work with smartthings using a random driver.
But cygnet brand is just bad.

My button would disconnect and require a factory reset often so i gave up.

      • Mmm under HA I've got 5 buttons and 4 temp sensors and never had an issue.

        • I have a number of these and some units are bad under HA, one motion sensor is dud and constantly non responsive, reliability issue is sort of similar to the Xiaomi aqara range.

Also this stuff has very silly design with the screw holding the base plate, if you stick it on some surfact then everytime when you need to change battery you'll either have to rip it out to open it or praying your force not strong enough to damage the screw thread, or don't use the screw at all.

And I believe Big W's been putting them on that price for a long time because I've seen that price everynow and then, just a matter of finding the store with stock.

          • @lgacb08: Unfortunately having a screw for the battery compartment is a legal requirement when button batteries are used and are replaceable.
I got one of the motion sensors from BigW back in May last year (discounted to $20 at that time) and it has been running fine on the original battery.
I am using it with Home Asisstant and a Sonoff Zigbee Dongle with no issues so far.

WTF all this time BigW sold zigbee stuff??????????? Why didn't it ever come up in my searches 😡

  • Well not exactly applicable to VIC stores.

  • Was a couple at brickworks in Adelaide thanks!
Still some motion sensors there if anyone is interested.
