Looks like a fairly decent phone for under $200

If 5G was included, it will be the best cheap 5G phone.

if my grandma had wheels she would've been a bike

        • Is this phone network locked?
The add doesn't say but the price suggests it is.

        • Nah, I bet she’d be a wagon…

        • The writing in the toilet cubicles say otherwise…

        • So you're telling us you rode your grandma?

    • +1

      Octa-core (2x1.6 GHz Cortex-A75 & 6x1.6 GHz Cortex-A55)

This is the same than the good ol Samsung A20 from 4 years ago which ended around this price point as well.

  • +3

I don't need this phone, but 3 years warranty - that is great!

  • What android version?

    • Operating System:Android™ 12

  • +8

    Just because its Nokia?
Slow unisoc processor, poor screen resolution, just enough RAM, no nfc..

    • +8

Damn no NFC is a deal killer for me, was considering it as a stop gap phone until you mentioned that.

According to gsmarena: "NFC Yes (market/region dependent)"

So does our region get NFC?

      • +2

We usually don't get NFC here down under on budget devices. it's often missing in budget Motos, Galaxy A series as well, when international models have it.

If NFC is a must have feature and you're buying a sub $250 device always check the spec sheet to see if it's listed, don't assume it's a standard feature.

        • +4

Crazy with how prevalent NFC payments are here

        • -1

          We pay cash..apparently!

Anyone recommend a phone around $100.
Must have all telco band support (4G is fine) and NFC.

          Dont care about the rest.

          • @tunzafun001: Pixel 2xl for about 139 off eBay is about as close as you'll get. Either that or something secondhand.

      • +10

Could the NFC fans do us a favour and try to keep cash alive? It allows untrackable purchasing, zero transaction fees and cannot be assigned an expiry date.

        • You are indirectly paying a transaction fee, as the goods or services you purchase have their price increased to cover merchant fees.

          • @Malik Nasser: If you ever worked in a retail business you would know this isn't true. Retail businesses just look at wholesale cost prices.

Most don't even consider holding costs or stock turnover rates apart from the biggest supermarkets.

Thinking they will consider credit card fees is far beyond any sophistication they can muster. They would rather focus on saving money by treating their employees poorly

        • -5

Are you a covid conspiracy theorist

      • +1

Yes, I have an LG Optimus (gen 1) which had a resistive plastic touch screen. It's wasn't that bad, but as apps grew popular you really had to be economical with he 128gb. Also because the touchscreen was resistive and the screen quite small, I used to use voice commands and text to speech a lot! It was half decent, and Vodafone was giving these phones away so I ended up with 3.

      • +7

why are you comparing cheap androids to flagship iPhones though?

          • +3

@abctoz: lol the S23 Ultra with a 1440p 1750nit 120Hz AMOLED display caught up with the iPhone 8 that has a 1080p LCD with less than half the battery size and a quarter of the performance..

            make reasonable comparisons please 🤦‍♂️

            • -4

@OzGardian: I.guess it barely beats my se2020 in performance huh, gotta take those wins where you get them

I mean how humiliating is it for a company to sell flagships for a decade only to edge out a.$250 iphone

              • +2

@abctoz: it doesn't barely beat it, it EASILY beats it.

The SE 2020 and all SE in recent years are underclocked in order to not waste even more battery.

The S23 Ultra easily goes toe to toe with the 14 Pros, matching, if not beating it, in GPU performance.

                • -3

@OzGardian: should look at some proper benchmarks it’s a shitshow out there

                  https://browser.geekbench.com/mobile-benchmarks

have to be a true masochist going for android

I don’t play games on my phone sorry, would like to not go blind from eyestrain

                  • @abctoz: How odd. The phone that is 25% more expensive has a higher benchmark.
                    What are the odds?

                    • @Tiggrrrrr: I think you need to reread what I said, my se2020 for $230 is 4x faster than this phone fyi

                      • @abctoz: I was making a comment on your link about the current "top" iphone (14 Pro Max) vs the "top" Samsung (S23 Ultra)

But that aside, your comment above is that the Samsung S23 Ultra barely beats the se2020?

According to the Geekbench6 multicore score, the S23 Ultra Benchmark is 4932 and the iPhone se 2020 Benchmark is 2635.

So being 87% higher is barely? In that case John Holmes' member is barely bigger than mine.

                        • @Tiggrrrrr: there is a reason my link to geekbench shows mobile comparison ranks by single core, anybody worth their salt, including our friends at geekbench, would agree that single core performance matters a lot more. It doesn’t matter how hard Samsung tries they can’t beat it, but adding more cores? That’s child’s play. adding extra cores gives little marginal performance benefit past 4ish cores, and the iPhone has what 6 already?

                          • @abctoz: "I don’t play games on my phone sorry".

                            • @Tiggrrrrr: I honestly don’t, and I probably stress it more than most gamers tbh

but that’s ok, keep changing the topic but ignore the elephant in the room

                  • @abctoz: It's not the games that will send you blind.

        • -3

My point is there is no flagship iPhones, there is only iPhones. The very first iPhone had glass multitouch IPS display, which at the time was the most premium screen available, but now is fairly common. But at the time it was the best you could get. Anyone who owned an iPhone from day one might assume that most other Android users also had a similar experience all along when really Android has been like the wasteland in Fallout, some people litigant it up in Megaton City and others getting by like scum in the badlands or whatever.

          • +1

@AustriaBargain: WTF are you talking about?

            • -3

@jackspratt: I asked ChatGPT to simplify that text for you: My point is that there are no flagship iPhones, only iPhones. The original iPhone had a premium glass multitouch IPS display that was the best available at the time, but it is now a common feature. Early iPhone owners might assume that most Android users have had a similar experience, but the reality is that Android has been like a wasteland in the game Fallout. Some Android users have had a great experience in a city, while others have struggled to get by in rougher areas.

          • +1

@AustriaBargain: wow this is a stupid response

Where did you get the info saying no NFC? Nokia website says the following:

      Connectivity
      Bluetooth:5.0
      Features:NFC supported (TA-1528 only)
      Headphone jack:3.5 mm
      Location:GPS/AGPS, GLONASS, BDS, Galileo
      USB connection:USB Type-C (USB 2.0) OTG
      WiFi:802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4/5GHz dual band)
      NFC Supported

      • NFC supported for TA-1528 model only

        • What is this model?

          • @sub102: Beats me. I was just correcting your post which only says "NFC Supported"

Should be "NFC Supported (TA-1528 only)"

  • Decent burner phone thanks.

    Tear drop screen much annoying

    • Hence why I'm still using an Xiaomi Mi 9T because it has no tear drop or anything for that matter.

The Geekbench scores are very low on this phone.

The Geekbench scores are very low on this Android phone. FTFY

  • Looked at this handset last month, but ended up with the Vivo Y33s which was on special at OfficeWorks for $199. The 5 band GPS receiver won me over…

    This or motorolla g62?

    • +2

Motorola G62 by a long way

    • -1

      G82 for $199

      • Where currently can you get it for $199 though?

        • +2

In my time machine I have a bunch.

  • +2

If anyone wanting a cheap phone, Woolies have Moto E32 that usually costs $200 for $69.

Optus locked, but unlock code can be had on ebay for $6.30

    • Went to 3 stores and couldn't find one 2 weeks ago.

    • +2

Amazing price if you can find stock.

      • +1

First store i went to had stock, best to call store in advance nonetheless if interested

        • Looked like a Woolies near my work had them. Had the cardboard sleeves out front with the $69 price. Recently got a Samsung A22 as a spare (and Android alternative to my primary iPhone) so don't really need the E32. Had been considering the E32 while it was 4190 until the A22 showed up on sale though. Think it'd be a good Nokia alternative.

    • Hello - do you have a link to this please? Online it shows as $189 at woolies. Thanks

      • +1

What you saw is the Everyday Market Partner price, which is $189.
In store it is actually $69, the in store link doesn't work but heres proof of price with my receipt.

Conflicted with these phones from Nokia.

Really like what their doing around repairability and using large batteries with higher chage cycles (800 over the typical 500) but it seems wasted on such a low end phones.

    • +1

The cycles probably is related to usage patterns to. The fact that these are slow and not that capable means people wouldn't be putting so many cycles on them (due to not using them so often). So then they should last longer as a result.

  • This or Moto G22 (around$178). I think this Nokia Australian version has NFC.

  • damn, waiting for a redmi note or poco special down to this price range. I have a Nokia, fine for basic usage but … not good enough

  • Anyone know how the T606 compares to the Snapdragon 480 in the Nokia G50?
G50 is selling for $247 atm.

    • +1

SD 480 is better than T606, and it's also 5G.

  • +3

This phone sucks but so do most phones at this price point. Rather get a Pixel 2xl off of eBay for cheaper.

    • Just got the 2xl around 150 refurbished but I swear it is brand new condition still had android 8 on it.

  • +2

    ANTUTU
    SD665 = 198,000
    UNISOC T606 = 180,000

SD665 is slow for todays hardware and this soc is worse.

  • +1

Bought it today. Big upgrade for my parents.

It has nfc and I was able to also get the speaker and case on the spot.

    • Is there a case included in the box, or is the bonus case the only one included?

How's the quality of the bluetooth speaker?

  • Does the JB pricing end on May 24 or what kinda pricing cycles JB have ie weekly or?

  • 2/5 They claim it was never on special and it shows $349 on the web now.
    Too slow.

    • Dam, was looking at getting one.

      • Same, had to settle for a C12 instead (only 2GB/64GB with 2GB memory extension/virtual RAM and micro-USB though)
