Kirkland Signature Stainless Steel Cookware 10-Piece Set $299.99 in-Store ($309.98 Delivered) @ Costco (Membership Required)

270

One of OzBargains favourite cookware sets is on sale again - it's a copy of the $1200+ All-Clad set.

Oven safe, dishwasher safe, compatible with induction cook tops, no non-stick coatings.

Unfortunately RRP has jumped so the sale price is also a bit higher than previous deals.

About $10 cheaper in store, if you want to grab a $1.50 hotdog to go with your pots and pans.

    5 ply .. fancy!

Looks like a nice deal for stainless. Much healthier than ingesting non stick coatings, if you can learn how to cook without non stick.

Im on the hunt for a set with welded handles rather than rivets, so there's nowhere for food to get stuck.

    • +2

The rivets on this set are extremely tight, I doubt food will get stuck - especially after a good run through the dishwasher.

    • non stick coatings ….. heart repair uses teflon as it's very inert and doesn't react ….. so ingesting non-stick coatings probably don't get digested, and the quantity you need at nano level to kill you or give you a stroke ….. Id be more worried about the rest of your diet ……

I like stainless as I can use metal utensils …..

      • your heart and the blood pumping doesnt really reach 100C + on a daily basis, so teflon would of course be fairly stable at that temp…

Not to mention particles of teflon while not really reactive in the body could still cause inflammation if build up occurs as the body tries to get rid of it, like any other foreign substances.

Not sure it's fair to say much healither. Check out this video from Adam Ragusea on teflon/PTFE non-stick coating https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FNNKhVoUu8&

  • Ah nice, dropped back to pre-covid price of $279.
They jacked up for last 12-18 months.

So, for future proofing, would these be suitable for induction?

    • +4

      Yes..

      Compatible with Induction & dishwasher

      • Whoops, didn’t see that in the specs. Thank you.

      • I'm not convinced with "compatible"… I have some great stainless steel pieces that just don't get enough heat from induction. I can't see why this would be any different.

        • +2

          What?

The person is asking if this works with induction not how well it works with induction.

Stainless steel don't get enough heat from induction is to do with the induction unit + the quality of the stainless steel + the design of the product…

          • @pearl2013: My comment is directed at the terminology used by the product. Compatible isn't very ensuring, while the OP asked for future proofing.

            • @ChaseAus: Commentor below uses it with an induction stove and seems to be working well.

        • I bought some yesterday, they're a bit thicker bottomed than the all-clads and heat up super well on induction.

    • +1

Works well on induction. Have these and loving it. Keep in mind that these are bit heavy if you wash them by hands

  • a copy of the $1200+ All-Clad set

All-clad you're definitely paying for name, but also country of origin. Personally I'd buy Australian but I don't think we do stainless steel stuff? Essteele is a good option from Italy.

    • Clad is made in USA, Kirkland says China and Esteele in Italy. I just bought Esteele from Myer and was able to price match Pete of Ken’s

  • Does this one work with the Switch? I have other ones that do but not sure if this is mainly for PC/mobile

    • Why are you cooking your Nintendo?

    • +8

You'll need a pan-to-USB-C adaptor, but yes, it should be fine. Though be careful, you'll need to heat the pans up slower than if you are connecting them to a PC, otherwise the Switch won't recognise the temperature change and will also overheat

  • how are these compared to the SCANPAN 22035 Impact 5 Piece Cookware Set. Sorry just cause the price mark is very similar. Thank you all!

    • +1

This would be higher quality. Scanpan Impact range are stainless steel with an impact bonded bottom layer - meaning only the bottom of the pan/pot contains aluminium/copper in order to conduct heat.

This set is cladded throughout so the heat distribution will be more even and will happen all over the pan/pot.

    • Scanpan is known for their non-stick coatings (better than teflon).

Their stainless steel is just rebranded average pans, made in China, aluminium base. I would get ikea pans and save my money, otherwise the Kirkland pans appear to be much better- 5 ply (most are 3 ply), and copper core

This set is a no brainer. For about the cheapest set price around you get a knock off of one of the best sets around from the top of the market.

I got my mum a set of the D3 (the 3 ply Costco used to do before this) knockoffs before I had ever heard of All Clad just on obvious quality and value. Then got a set for myself. Now have a set of these 5 ply's for the holiday place.

These are great. Only drawback is weight for older people sometimes. I burnt my favourite by cooking it dry taking a work call but even it eventually came back to clean with use and dishwasher. Still didn't warp.

    • +1

It's a no brainier maybe, if you don't care about where stuff is made.

      • But a lot of the cheap sets that this competes with on price are made in China just the same.

This one just happens to be a much higher quality.

        • +1

          True true, valid point!

        • The Allclad patents expired a few years ago and it's why you see so multi-clad coming out of china ….. Allclad also now makes some of it's product range in china and some in USA, thing to check is thickness, some are thinner than others …..

      • +2

what's the problem with made in china, it's made from australian iron ore, coking coal and nickel ….. if they can make hypersonic missiles and mobile phones I'm sure they can make pots and pans …. if they were Xiaomi I'm sure they would get more love.

Slightly Cheaper option (I find these good for normal home use) if someone does not want to buy a full set:

These are not the same quality. The op stuff is layered metal which is mich better and nicer…

      • great thing about multiclad is becasue it's thick all around, no hot spots if flames go past tradition disc bonded base

        • My thing is these posts always become about Kirkland vs Allclad.

On their own, just for design and function, I argue these are a great pan for the price. I think the best value in the market in fact.

          • @Chiang: Layered metal is layered metal… i bet all clad performance is no different.. all clad lost their patent a while ago. I have some all clad and its very nice but if i didnt have it, id buy this for sure.

    • +1

The ikea 365 range is not a good substitute, you should look at the sensuell range. They are significantly higher quality and also more expensive

  • In the process of changing to an induction cooktop from gas.

Don't need the whole set available in this post, but would love a good quality stock pot (10L or more) that will suit induction.

    Any suggestions?

      Ikea 365 works
