FAQ thanks to BG

Question Answer
1. Is Boost operated by Telstra network? Yes, on the full Telstra network
2. Does Boost support 5G? Yes, for all Boost prepaid customers and it is currently on trial until 3 April 2023
From 4 April 2023, 5G network access will be included as standard on your service and we’ll be introducing capped download speed caps on our 4G and 5G networks
3. Does Boost support e-SIM? Sadly not at this stage. However there are plans to do so
4. Do you have to activate the SIM within 30 days? Every Cashrewards Boost cashback up to and including Feb 28 has been approved (confirmed by TA) - provided you activated within 30 days of order
5. How long is the SIM expiry? Usually 1 year, but to qualify for cashback the SIM must be activated within 30 days of ordering
6. It is showing “new customer” on Boost website. What does this mean? New customer term is only for the additional Boost data, and nothing to do with the cashback offer
7. Can I receive international text message (aka int. roaming) with this SIM by default? Yes, you can receive SMS while overseas, but can’t send outgoing to Australia
8. How long does it take to receive the SIM? According to the Boost Rep: Once dispatched, you should receive your order within the following business days: Metro Areas – 2-5 business days for capital cities – Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Canberra, Darwin, Hobart & Brisbane (order before 4pm). Non Metro or Regional / remote areas – 3-7 business days
9. Is porting in a Telstra number to Boost considered a "new customer"? From Boost Mobile rep via dm: Porting a number from Telstra to Boost is definitely considered a new customer
10. Are you able to purchase multiple plans using different names / ID (or can I purchase 4 x plans for the family using my own details)? From Boost Mobile rep via dm: Received clarification from the team and this is a tricky one since for compliance the terms is showing the customer is only allowed 1 sim per transaction but he can buy multiple SIMs and then activate them all under his name and he will then be able to manage all the numbers when he logs into the App with his Boost ID.
11. Information on what to do when the "please try again later" message comes up List of indicators that can affect how your order is flagged in different financial systems, which can hopefully help you understand what is going wrong
12. Can this be used to recharge? No, this is a starter pack. But you can ask a CSR to use the starter kit as a recharge. I think technically the service is activated on a new number and then your existing number/account is migrated across. The outcome is basically the same. Voicemail greeting needs to be recorded again.

Enjoy! and Lest we forget.

  • Here we go again!

  • +3

I'm still personally waiting for those with at least $4 profit :)

    • +5

All the printed $30/$40 popular starter packs will be phased out on 4 July, i.e. no longer selling. Boost must be desperate to get rid of them.

      • +6

I will have mine professionally framed, and it will hang proudly on the wall as a reminder that capitalism works for every citizen — no matter what SIM-slutting background you come from. A collector’s item to hand down to future generations… thanks Boost for inspiring us to be the best consumers we can be

      • What does this mean? They will no longer offer $30/$40 starter packs? Sounds arbitrary

        • +1

They will be $35/$45 starter packs accordingly.

          • +1

@Neoika: Ahh, here's hoping they keep up these deals with the new ones

            • @fufufu: I hope so too mate, but I fear Neoika is right and they are just giving these away to get rid of them as they know they can't use them soon.

      • Has anyone seen a $30 starter pack with an expiry date later than 29/6/24? That's the latest that I've seen. (4/5/24 and 11/5/24 also seem to be common.)

        • They are still valid after 4 July, but very likely with only standard data inclusion unpon activation. Boost Mobile has no obligation to offer bonus data after the new plans replace the old ones.

      • How'd you find out about that?! Amazing info

    • buy two?

@TA, I got all my 3 Boost + 1 Woolies Mobile CR cashbacks refused and my claims on them denied. What gives?? Is this bait+switch?

    • -1

Never rely on claim. If you have to do it often, maybe it is time to stop buying. FYI, no tracking issue for me.

      • No tracking issue for me either; the clicks were tracked, but no cashback.

        • -1

          Click record doesn't count.

    • Unlucky you. I had a Woolies one not track, but all my Boosts (so far) have been approved.
Did they give a reason for denying, such as were boost saying you didn't activate them within 28 days?

      • Where do I see that? I got no email with the resolution; just the app says DECLINED next to ENQUIRE, where it earlier said CLAIM.

        • If you contact them or press enquire and send them a message they can let you know. My personal experience has only really been issues on ones that didn't track so they manually claimed and then the person does tell you what they have been told - but of course some companies don't tell them anything or just don't reply to them. I once had them claim that my purchase had been attributed to another cashback site so I must have clicked through someone else - bull* but CR/SB are of course stuck in the middle and don't know anything apart from what they are told.

do I need to stay connected for 28 days to eligible for the cash back?

    • I think it might even be 30 days

      • +2

Activate within 30 days. That’s the only requirement.

    • -1

My last 1 more than 2 months now cashback status still under pending.

  • Not that the last one even tracked, but am i eligible for a second cashback, i thought i read somewhere one a month

    • As many as you want, as long as you activate them within 30 days (so, effectively, one a month per account, but nothing stops one using each for a just a couple of weeks).

      • Is it 30 days from purchase date or 30 days from day ship it / you receive it? Im still waiting for one i bought over a week ago.. delay in post im guessing

  • +1

FYI I have 2 from 21 Feb that although I had to manually add in CR as it didn't track, is now approved. CR seems good for it.

  • Bought 1 last week. How do we buy this one so it be track and quality for CR?
Is it better use different CR account?

    • +1

Just buy it. Last deal I bought a fair few in one day, no issues with tracking

    • +1

you can do 10 of these on one account, theres no limit

  • +3

Bought a few boost plans so far, but this time I keep getting this message at the time of payment (tried a few times since yesterday):

    SORRY, SOMETHING WENT WRONG

We’re sorry but we’re experiencing technical issues. Please try again later.

Have tried with different credit cards.
Anyone else has the same issue?

    • +3

      classic Boost

    • +1

If you order enough of them in a short time period boost will temporarily block the address/email/account/card from ordering more.

  • -1

Can I use this to recharge an existing boost sim? Should have checked before buying the sim :(

    • +1

Yes if you call boost to do it but it will usually invalidate cashback as it wont count as activating the sim.

Best to just use it as a data sim in a 2nd sim slot/2nd phone.

  • Regarding receiving sms overseas, since this is prepaid and it only lasts for 28 days, if you spend longer than 28 days without recharging, will you still receive free sms?

  • +2

It's still a PITA to activate these SIM's, for me at least anyway. Since I have already got an active SIM with them (even if it's expired), I always get "Something went wrong" and I need to ask the live chat to activate. Signing in to my Boost account before activating was suggested in another thread, but it doesn't make any difference :(

    Anyway, I ordered some more.

    • I believe if the email you use when purchasing the sim is the same as your Boost ID when activating, it should be fine.

      • unfortunately not, still has never worked

        • same - activations are a pain. I've resorted to calling to activate.

We are unable to proceed with your request at this time. Please try again later, or chat with us using the chat button below.

    We apologise for any inconvenience.

Just like the previous deal it is still not working (I.e unobtainable for me).

    • Is this on the boost website or the cashrewards page?

      • +1

Boost website, after click through via cashback or even in incognito mode (no cashback affiliate link attached).

    • I've got this before. Workaround is 1) you need to either use a different browser (Firefox, Edge etc), or 2) use a different name and email address during the order process.

    • +1

Have you tried all the solutions listed in Q.11 of the FAQs section in this post?

      • ^^ This.

@WoodYouLikeSomeCash perhaps you should try the Reps trouble shooting guide so that you can hopefully understand what is going wrong.

      • Already done all of that and still not working.

  • Can you still receive SMS if the first 28-day load is used up, and not reloaded for 6 months?

  • Just a warning in case they enforce it - but the Boost page says in several places "Data offer for new customers who activate by 8 May 2023" and if you activate it on 9th May onwards you only get 20GB (as its not actually a 40GB sim its 20GB+20GB promo until 8th May).

  • +3

    "SORRY, SOMETHING WENT WRONG

We’re sorry but we’re experiencing technical issues. Please try again later."

tried different cards, emails, always getting this.
