This is great advice.
For dashcam market; greater price does not necessarily mean greater dashcam.
You could not be more wrong
But a lot of dash cameras do not support more than over 128GB SD card, also camera‘s lens can make different
why do you need more than 128gb? thats bit silly.
Even 16GB is enough, you just want to be able to capture the accident which is last few minutes of recording anyways, not record a movie trilogy.
Can't remember if I've got 128gb or 256gb but I only get 4 days of footage - that includes parking mode.
There's also times you might not notice a scratch or dent when walking back to the car so you could potentially go back and look if anything sticks out.
@parker2004au: I've got a 64gb card and it keeps a solid 3 weeks of recordings, but I only travel 1 hour for work, 3-5 days a week.
@Zythyx: Depends on what rate your recording at. Have 256gb card and full time parking mode unless at home locked in my garage
@Spending2Much: I suppose I don't have Parking mode enabled (never got around to installing the unit)
If you use it when only driving that is ok, but for full protection, parking mode is very important, I have front and back cameras with 128GB that can record about 12 hours in Full HD
Whilst these are severely overpriced, a $100 dashcam would not produce anywhere near the same quality video.
you'd be surprised, have a look into DDPAI. Its not $100 but around $150-200 depending on model and quality is amazing, day and night.
Agreed, I also have a 650 and can't particularly recommend it. Works fine but I don't see the benefits over something like a viofo that justify the price
Wouldn't recommend buying any awful cheapo dashcam either though. A good balance are the Viofo 129 models off amazon for around $200~ for dual cams
Viofo serves me very well!
Mine lasted 6.5 years or so. It was a DR650GW. Hence why I was looking at an upgrade. It would reboot every few minutes, despite me using different SD-cards (Blackvue and others).
Difference in quality though, is night and day.
Did you update firmware before it started playing up?
Mine is still going ok after a bit over 4 years. Gets parked facing afternoon sun so gets very hot and only time it played up was after updating firmware but putting the older version back on fixed it.
Paid $519 with $7 delivery, Autobarn 20% off deal, about a year ago. I had to get 10m coax cable from AutoBlackBox and replaced blurry rear camera via support. Overall - happy. It replaced Viofo A129 Plus Duo which I returned to Amazon - shitty software. And Viofo has no desktop viewer sw.
I recently purchased 2 of these, https://www.amazon.com.au/Built-Display-Dashboard-Recorder-S…
1 for $200, was good after first install for the second i bought, they had a sale recently for $186 shipped.
I saw that most good 4k dashcams are over $600, so i looked for a cheap alternative, the F7NP model is USB-C, it also does 4k front + 1080p rear at the same time. And i have a 256gb samsung endurance pro SSD($55 approx via amazon USA) working fine inside it. i got the hardwire kit for it for $30, works fine at the moment, fairly easy to install, you just need to know your fuse box location, i used rear cig lighter/acc for main camera and the battery power fuse i hooked it into my entertainment/clock system as it was the least important.
Whatever you buy in 2023, make sure you buy one with the latest Starvis 2 sensor.

I picked up the Viofo 139 Pro for similar price with cables and Bluetooth button. Viofo has come a long way.
My other Blackvue 750S is great too but the pic quality is not enough to capture number plates easily especially at night.
Also have a look at the iRoad PowerPro 12 battery pack - great add on for these cams.
Haven't heard of that iRoad battery pack before but wow $500~ seems like quite a bit for a power bank? Wouldn't any normal xiaomi 20k mah one achieve the same thing for much less?
Keep in mind not an authorised reseller for BlackVue. So the warranty is not covered by BlackVue.
Check out 70mai A xiaomi company.
For under $150 on Amazon you can get the front and rear pro plus pack which is great quality with heaps of features.
I'm not happy with my 750.
Its full hd, can barely get number plates and logos on cars.
The new app is absolutely atrocious and barely usable, trying to push memberships and their social app.
I rather my wife's viofo
750x Plus, 750x or 750s?
I was actually going to get the A139 pro but it was out of stock unfortunately.
S I'm pretty sure
Had the front one replaced once as the lens melted. It was one month out of warranty but they came to the party through auto barn
I've got the 750s-2ch and I agree. New app is crap, I just want to easily view my footage, download it, and have easy access to it.
I have continuous wifi connection issues, even from inside garage with strong wifi signal.
I can't easily access the footage elsewhere if needed to without removing SD card.
App keeps prompting me to pay a subscription.
Does support 256gb, so good for large capacity SD cards so great, since my new car was malisciy damaged whilst parked. Unfortunately, camera shut down so no recording.
It's bad in low light situation, so even if was running, wouldn't have had footage anyway.
Yup the app update is horrible. The old app was slow and bad already, this is much worse.
The 750x plus is a step up from the 750s and captures a lot more detail. I have both and a 900x plus.
My problem is less with the camera and more with the unusable app
The x wasn't an option when I bought mine as far as I'm aware.
Yeah, the 'S' was the top model at the time.
Then later came thr 'X' and the PLUS
My point was that you can't compare the S to the X plus as you said you werent happy with your 750S. Of course the newer model wasnt available when you bought your S.
@8azinga: How can't I compare models of the same brand?
Particularly emphasising the build quality (lens) and app (universal)
Hmmm
@teacherer: "Its full hd, can barely get number plates and logos on cars." Image quality has improved from the S to X Plus so your comment was irrelevant to this camera. You didnt mention build quality in your first comment and you were probably just unlucky or you had it under unusual circumstances to cause the lens to melt.
@8azinga: Irrelevant to the camera. Relevant to the brand ✌️ ✌️ ✌️
@teacherer: Not really. Complaining about the image quality isn't really reflective of the brand. I had a A119 and that wasnt any better for image quality and it had worse build quality as well as it would rattle around which was a known issue and died in less than a year.
Should get cheaper soon as the new 770 and 970 series has been released.
Really. These could be interesting…..
What are the options of getting these things installed?
Cost like $70/ea
The better mobile installers, strathfield car radios are $200-$250 to install front and rear cameras. Most autobarn stores also have installation services but prices will vary between stores but likely over $150.
Are these stores easy to organise if you didn't purchase the product from them?
Strathfield car radios will do it no worries and that was the price for supplying your own. They may give a discount if you buy from them but not sure. Not sure about autobarn but doubt it will be an issue. If you are paying over $200 at a store, get a quote from a mobile installer lke Bendas as it may be the same and they come to you which is easier.
Going to try installing it myself. The YouTube videos make it look so easy, but honestly I'm sure I'll run into issues along the way.
Lucky I have an old DR650 so I can just replicate the same path it took, and remove the old Power supply from the fuse box.
If your 650 was already hardwired using the PMP, then its easy as you just re-use that part and plug the cigarette lighter plug from new dash cam into the PMP and you don't need to re-do the fuse taps.
@8azinga: Looks like the rear camera cable is different on the X models, and doesn't use the PMP.
I think the hardest part is removing trim, rather than hooking it into the fuse box. But we'll see.
@TheBooleanOne: The X and X plus models do have their own inbuilt parking mode but you can still use the PMP if you want. Google to find an articles. Mine is set up that way and it is better than having to go into app to change settings if you want to turn off parking mode like when you park at home.
You sure the DR650 rear co-ax cable is different? Blackvue list it as the same both models. The power cable is different though so that does need to be changed.
https://www.blackvue.com.au/accessories/coax-cable/
@8azinga: Oh yeah, I have three DR650GW, not the S version. Will definitely look into the PMP connectivity though.
Thanks.
Is that record front and the back ??
dual camera so yes
I paid similar price to this about 6 years ago when the first BlackVues were starting to come out. I got a 650W or something like that, it has front and rear cameras. All I can say about it is that you don't need to spend $5-600 on a dashcam. The quality is fine and it's easy to see number plates but it's not worthy of the price tag. I'm sure one of those off brand $100 would do just as good a job as this.
I also want to mention that the companion apps for this are pretty terrible, and they just weren't worth keeping installed.
