I got spend $250 to get 1250 reward point. Worst offer!

    • Me too! Wondering how much this is equal to….

      • same. so what is 1250 reward point thingie ?

      • +2

        $6.25

    • +3

Looks like if you've used the previous offer, you get this reduced offer.

      • +3

        I got nothing this round

    • +2

      Same here - $250 x 1.29% = $3.26. 1250 reward points = $6.25. You're still $3 in the green but not worth the trouble.

      • +1

Good point, some people may overlook the fees. Actually lose money if bill is over $485, i.e. typical energy bills.

        • Yeah so you spend exactly $250 and pay the rest of the bill another way.
This one may go in the too-hard basket though. I got the points on my Plat card. My wife got the 20% on her Velocity Amex and that's worth doing.

      • Well, you didn't count the reward points on the actual bills and fees ($253.26 in this case, so 506 points?), which is the primary purpose of Sniip and those services.

        • Paying extra for points and ending up with a net loss coz of the surcharge doesn't make sense to me. I am happy with direct debit whenever there is a surcharge for cards.

    • same, sigh

    • Mee too ! 250 over 1 or more payments for 1250 MR Points Lousy , and only on 1 card, Amex Rewards Advantage Not on Plat Charge or Plat Reserve Credit

    • Ditto

  • +1

    Targeted.

  • They are not explicit if$30 limit is cumulative limit or per transaction

    • +5

I think the terms are explicit.

Offer is limited to a maximum of $30 credit per Card to which the offer is saved and only spend on this Card counts towards the Offer.

      • i read that as similar wording to many offers that can be either way,

but if it is cumulative seems hardly worth the effort

  • +4

I have AMEX and Sniip and cannot see the offer

    • you are not alone

    • I think the offer is only for those never used the card or did not use it for 12-18 months.

  • +1

Got it on my QF Discovery but not my VA Escape.

  • +1

Got this on the Qantas card

    • Same

  • Got it on my QF premium.

  • Got this on my QF Discovery

    • +1

      shit post :)

  • What other bill settlement services are there besides Sniip?

    • Bill Fairies, Payment Logic, Beem, Post Billpay, DEFT

  • I pay my business vodafone bill with SNIIP because its cheaper then Voda/TPG CC fees.

    • Only realised this recently, but Vodafone do not charge a fee if you direct debit with PayPal.

      • Does this apply to business accounts???

Cant see anything on their site to indicate this only applies to personal accounts.

Regardless, Vodafone changed their payment processor about 12 months ago and using Amex directly through them is cheaper than Sniip.

  • +1

Good when used to pay for circumcision bill

  • +6

Maximum discount: A $148.09 bill payment before processing fee (1.29% for AmEx) taken into account.

    • +1

Plus extra $10 off for referral if first time customer so I overpaid my power bill for $160

  • I just don't see the point of using SNIIP at all. @ 0.5¢ / point even with Amex Platinum (2.25 points / $), you end up losing $13.05 for Explorer it's a loss of $27.71 for a $10k example spend, much worse for other Amex cards. The only way this could work is by converting to airline miles at 0.65¢ / point.

    • +2

If you have the offer, the one-off deal is not bad.

    • +1

Only good for paying business related bills as the surcharge is tax deductable.

      • And payments where you don't get full points - government organisations incl ATO for example

        • +1

FYI, ATO isn't covered by this cashback promo coz it counts as Sniip Business, which is excluded

          • @clx: Yeah, the change in ATO rates for Sniip really sucks. Since Amex clamped down on Sniip (and other services), the value proposition of Sniip has gone down significantly. Pretty sure Amex has some ownership stake in Payment Logic, hence the move.

          • @clx: I was trapped with this promo !! Paid ATO and Amex denied the cash back. They cannot even let me know what is categorised as Sniip Business and what is not !!

      • -1

Paying extra just coz it's tax-deductible is a poor business move.

        • +1

I think you're missing the point Slippery Otter is making. Since the surcharge is tax deductible, it lowers the effective cost of the points you're purchasing.

If you can use your Amex personal card on some utilities or something similar that doesn't get classified as Sniip Business, then you pay 1.29% + GST. After the tax deduction, it equates to 0.97% + GST. Then it depends on how much a) your card earns and b) how much you value your points (https://www.pointhacks.com.au/rewards-points-valuations/).

If you don't value your points (especially if you don't use them for premium cabin travel)… then, no, a service that exists solely to help you earn more points quite possibly won't stack up.

  • Thanks OP. Received it in on my Qantas Discovery. Will come in handy for a big land tax bill that is due soon.

  • Urban Utilities does not accept Amex?

    • Seems yes. Not sure what bills can be paid by Amex

      • +1

Thats is the whole point of Sniip and Payment Logic so you can pay many bills with Amex that dont directly accept Amex

        • Can I pay urbane utilities through Sniip using Amex?

        • I just tried it with urban utilities but it said it doesn't accept amex

          • @beOson: Did you try inputting bpay biller code into Sniip?

            • +1

@glyptothek: No? I simply scanned the Sniip qrcode shown on the bill PDF..

Worked using your method, thanks heaps!

        • parking tickets

  • 1250 points for $250 spend😂

    • I didn’t even get that. Seriously considering cancelling my Amex.

  • -1

Wow, the fees are ridiculous and it's a joke they don't bother telling you until after you sign up.

I think I'll stick with internet banking.

    • +2

Their fees for personal payments (which excludes ATO and superannuation payments for all customers) are available here..)

Their fees for business payments (which includes ATO and superannuation payments for all customers) are available here.

I found these two pages after typing in Sniip Fees into Google and then navigating through the first search result. I did not require a Sniip account to view these two pages.

where anyones Additional card holders targetted or i guess its only select basic card holder this time round?

  • so is this the correct maths for both offers including $250 to get 1250 reward point offer>? $250 x 1.29% = $3.26. 1250 reward points = $6.25 depending on amex card used? what about the plat reserve? so for the lucky others who got the 20% offer its Maximum discount: A $148.09 bill payment before processing fee (1.29% for AmEx $1.91 fee) taken into account you get a $30 amex account credit.

  • $6.50 buys a lot of dog food.
Can't hide from the bites of Amex, they still chase me for being an ex Masters Hardware victim.
Speaking of dog food: The ACCC has taken notice of my donations and the naming error has been corrected!

  • So paying the bill via BPay qualifies for the AMEX rebate?

  • I did this after the post yet no confirmation email from Amex yet. Did anyone get one?

    • +2

I got email from AMeX that I had used the offer straight away.

    • +1

      No confirmation from Amex yet

      • update: The app shows the offer as being "Recently Redeemed", however no email notification or account credit as yet.

      • update - still no email confirmation (only the app showing "Recently redeemed") - but just received my credit now from purchase made Apr 20

    • Did it on first day of promotion.
No email from Amex after using
$30 statement credit has showed up now in my transaction list in app.

  • I am late for the party but what is all the "1250 points for $250 spend" in comment about? Isn't the offer "Get 20% Cashback"?

Btw, my primary Qantas Discovery card has it but additional cards not.

    • The points offer is on different type of Amex card - eg Amex Essential.

  • So I got this 20% off offer. If I pay a $453 gas bill then I’ll pay about $5 in the fee from sniip but get back $30 from Amex as a credit. Am I understand this right?

  • i received an email notification for using the offer but the rebate has yet to hit my account. how long is it taking for others to get back that 20%?
