Disclaimer: Very specific location, one-off event, you may get nothing.

A cafe in my local area has advertised a promo for their opening day special offer. It's not on the website - it's a full page ad in the local paper.

The first 100 people to the cafe (opening Sat 11 Aug @ 11am) will receive one free burger a week for a year.

I figured somewhere there's an OzBargainer willing to line up from 3am in the biting cold winter of Melbourne in order to savour a delicious free burger in summer. At least, I assume they're delicious. They're free. That makes anything delicious… ;-)

      Yes, I imagine you'd need to scope it out beforehand to figure out which is the closest entrance to the store and - importantly - whether security staff unlock the doors in any particular order. No point being first in line outside a locked door, nice and close to watch 100 people pouring into the centre when the door at the other end of the centre opens.

        If the burgers are actually any good, then thats $500 a week for a year this is costing them (assuming a good burger costs them $5 to produce).

        Thats about the cost of a full time cook no? To me that seems a bit steep for the amount of advertising they are going to get from this, unless there are more T&C's.

          Besides OzBargainers, I don't think the avg person would eat there every week for 52 weeks. More than likely, you would bring a friend/ partner. They would pay for a meal. Also I'd probably order a drink and chips. So yes max 50k but more likely a fraction of that. Of course if OzBargainers get all 100 then they're screwed.

          Ozbargainers will be bringing all the rellies with alzheimers so they can scoop their freebies for the rest of the year. Do babies count. I'm sure some Ozbargainers deliberately had twins so they could save on their expenditures & maximise their health insurance rebates and tax benefits. Mum + Dad + twins = min 4 burgs a weeks. Dad'll elbow his way in, muim and 23 rellies and their kids will join him at the head of the Q at 5 minutes before the store opens.

      Yeh, which means after waiting outside the plaza for it to open, you have to rush to the burger place to line up again for another 2 hours… At least the 100m sprint will weed out the unhealthy. :)

          they had a similar deal when they opened their store in neutral bay, and i heard that few hundred ppl lined up.

          i've eaten at neutral bay restaurant, and i haven't been there since then.

    i'm there now and there is about 200 people already lned up.

    people are getting pushy and someone has placed a wheely bin after the 100th person.

    cars keep rolling past to look at the line.

    people have bought sleepng bags and deck chairs.

    doesn't help that it has been raining.

    nah, I'm in my lounge.

    I'm actually here. No seriously.At least 40 have gotten burgers, another 100 in line. Nova 100 is here. Door guys are checking people off with iPads. Not sure if they are checking if you've liked their page. Anyway I'm off to get groceries.

        So it sounds like the first 100 will only receive it, a voucher or similar.
