I would have to say the Samsung T7 or T7 Shield competitors are much better value when on sale, if 1000mb/sec is fast enough for you. They have recently been $180-190 for the 2tb variants.

    • Double the speed for less than double the price….

You are right though – depends on what speed you really need. But for photo and video editing the extra speed is very welcome.

      • Noob question - how would you rate this for watching UHD 4K movies? Is the better speed of any use in my use case? I intend on plugging this directly to my LG C1 which I think has USB3.1 port.

photo editing - anything above a few hundred mb/sec doesnt really make a difference. Same with video editing. Transferring huge libraries is where you'll see a big difference. so very good for urgent turnaround video work, or if you are using it to regularly move big amounts of data between home and work for example. Otherwise, the current deal for the 4TB T7 Shield is much better. Twice the capacity for $389. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/769575

I don't know why I'm having that gut feeling that this is overpriced.

  • Just cancelled my order as I found out you need to have usb 3.2 gen 2×2 to take advantage of the full speed.

  • This is more expensive that a week or 2 ago. It was 287 and i got 27x from Officeworks from price-beat

    • I had to reread your comment several times. I thought you bought 27.

      • I didn't remember exactly what price, it was 272 or something. So I wrote 27x.

  • Not sure if they have same specs but 1tb ssd is $99 at OW

Different model – that one only transfers at 520 Mbps.

The one in the post (Extreme Pro) transfers at 2000 Mbps and is $660 for 2TB and $379 for 1TB at OW.

  • Now under $300, 4TB is $500.
