2tb worth it? Or are we thinking more price drops. Kind of want to replace an old HDD in my computer with game storage since its been passed on from 2 computers its getting on in life.

Ultimately I think the way I've seen others comment about purchases makes sense: if you need it, get it - further price drops likely won't be too substantial, especially for the smaller capacity drives (1 TB has dropped $35 over the last 12 months). But if you can afford to wait, then do so as the price will only really come down, and as I said, if you wait you could look at spending a little bit more than what you would today but get a larger capacity drive instead.

    • Get a 2tb nvme ssd instead (if your mobo supports it), the gen 3 ones can be had for 120-150 range.

  • would crucial be the same for warranty when buying from US store ie they wont honor it?

    • Depends on their warranty terms.

I think it was either WD or Samsung I was reading about the other day have a global warranty, but the item needs to be returned to them in the country of purchase (so if you purchase from Amazon UK, you need to return to WD/Samsung in the UK, and any UK-specific warranty terms would apply)

If Crucial is the same, then you would need to return to Crucial in the US to claim warranty. They could allow you to return somewhere else, but that's not a given.
