These SD1970 deals are really wearing me down. I wish there was a version with a little gold on it so I could use NATO bands with gold hardware

  • +6

Will I finally crack and place my first order with Ali for the sd1970 in green hmmmm

    • +12

Do it bro, wearing mine now on blue rubber. Wrist is 7 inches for reference.

But it was dark in Sydney an hour ago 😉

        • +3

Yeah but I own a DeLorean.

          • @WatchNerd: coz it's still the 17th April here! 😏

      • Black with blue bezel looks great.. Is this a mod? If not then link to buy this one please.

        • +2

I bought a black & blue then swapped the guts over, very easy mod. Here's what the other one looks like which I sold.

I'm still torn about whether I kept the better looking one.

          • @WatchNerd: Can't go wrong with any of these. Wondering if there is just a blue bezel with same lume colour to buy & do the mod. Speaking of mod, Is the bezel attached to the glass?

        Nice face mod.

        Thats a good looking watch

  • This or Patek Philippe?

      This or Skmei 1628 - US$8.72 + GST.

Actually if you add this with the Steeldive it gives you another US$2 off US$20 so the final price US$80.22 (~A$119.70)

      • +1

Ordered Skmei 1628 under $10 Aud delivered through super deal

        • +1

That's a bargain! Not sure how you got it for that price?

          • +1

@WatchNerd: To be precise Skmei 1628 for $9.23 & Skmei 1251 $8.72 (both including delivery). Saw it under super deals then 50% off category but have ltd qty.

Tempted just for the bracelet lol.

The parts alone are prob worth more than $100. I don't mod watches anymore but my painkillers are kicking in and that no logo is starting to look nice… and I have a buch of old seiko parts somewhere…

Will revist after a couple of beers

      • I grabbed the sterilized SD1970 last time after a couple of beers, I can confirm its a great choice.

        • The watch or the beers?

This one here is also very nice for a similar price.

Thanks OP! With the current $3.03 off every $30, I was able to snag one for round $98.5

  • Although WN posted so many SD1970, I ended up spending more and bought the SD1970T model which equipped with the PT5000 movement. i was surprised by the accuracy of this movement. With fully wound and on wrist, it was gaining 3spd by rough obsevation(within cosc spec). While off wrist and face up, it gained more spd quickly(not as consistent as swiss luxuries but look at the price…). I just wore it for couple days, will see how longevity goes…

Every good movement can be adjusted to be 0spd with a Timegrapher (Weishi 1000) given enough patience.

I'd also suggest a loupe or pair of magnifying glasses, and something small, stiff (like a toothpick), pair of steady hands. try not to hit the balance wheel/spring..

Also, know that when you adjust, you'll be in face down position, but most people wear the watch on their wrist, and naturally your hand turns 1/8th of a rotation outwards (when you type on a keyboard)

And then when you measure a watch in different positions, you'll see the +/- spd will vary..

  • Hmm - Very tempting.

Black vs Greeen? No Logo vs Logo?

    • Green !!

I'd get with logo - sure it doesnt say Seiko or Rolex but no logo I find just looks like something is missing.

YOOO i feel exactly the same. was umming and arr-ing and yeah..a weird void there just looks way out of place.

I am tempted to get the SD1975 Tuna.
    Does anyone recommend it?

    • I purchased one in the March promotions, arrived in just over a week. it looks so good in person

      • Which colour did you get?
Are you happy with the build quality so far?
How much did you pay for it?

        • Black dial, the others looked way too tacky for my personal taste so did not get any real consideration.
Yes, very happy. Feels solid and have no complaints as yet!
114.88 delivered (76.09 usd Inc tax)

    • I had the green tuna but was disappointed and sold it. The hour indices looked really flat and annoyed me. I prefer the gold/silver outlined and raised style. I think the black would have looked better in this model.

  • Any reccomendations for Waffle Rubber bands from ali?

Looking to get the black dial with the SS Bracelet, but also wouldn't mind grabbing a black waffle weave rubber strap as well.

Got one in the last sale a month ago. The finishing quality, dial alignment, etc. were perfect, but the movement had an issue where it would pause at certain angles regardless of how well it's wound. Sitting on the bedside table overnight the watch would keep time but on the wrist it would be 5-30min slow every few times I checked it.

I've sent it back to Steeldive and they claim that the postage will be refunded upon receipt… and it will be processed for 'fixment'. I asked whether they could just send a new one but they said the original needs to arrive and be inspected first. The package has landed in China so I suspect it'll take another week or so to arrive.

  • Great quality, got it real quick as well.

  • I've ordered another of these silicone jobbies from eBay, because I raided my Pulsar for it to "see how it looked" and it hasn't come off (the watch or me).

I will be removing the included clasp and using the nicer SD clasp with it. Once it arrives…

For anyone interested, they're currently from $3.30 delivered on eBay.au. Won't plug seller, you can easily find them.

Just reporting 9 CALENDAR DAY to get my sd1970 haha is that a new record? Especially with 1 public holiday in the way. @WatchNerd this thing is gorgeous as hell and I am low key angry at myself for holding out for so long!!

  • I think I got unlucky with my unit, the crown stem isn't locked into the movement and generally just seems broken. I can unscrew the crown, but it never pops out with a spring-action like I think is expected with a screw-down crown. It just keeps unscrewing and can't be moved into different modes (winding, time, date) by pulling. As I unscrew futher and further I reach different functions (which are impossible to set properly because when I screw the crown back down the settings are changed again) until eventually the crown detatches from the case and the movement and comes right out ;(

My first automatic watch with a screw-down crown so not 100% sure if this is user error or an easy fix, please let me know if this sounds like a textbook issue to you that maybe I could get sorted in 5 minutes with a watchmaker.

But yeah gonna return and try again otherwise
