    • I used to do this with 5 cards at a time. Then they would only do 1 and last week 2 different people said they do not do it at all unless the card is already compromised. They mentioned reimbursement. How ridiculous that they will not do this to prevent loss. But try maybe you will be lucky.

      • Ok, thanks. Will try it tomorrow.

        • Please let us know how you go.

I had better luck with this last year.
The CSR I had on the phone would not budge.

  • I'm assuming there are none left?

Mine was fully restocked, didn't have to use the ones I had hidden!

Back tomorrow for the final purchase of 15 x $250

$26K of cards this time, very happy with that

Bring on October for the next round! :D

Reckon you're just trolling now based on all your comments in this post.

This is stock at my Coles today, some Coles have been restocked.

    • Any chance you can share which store(s) you found restocked today?

      • +2

It's in South Eastern suburb, I have PM you

        • Thanks for that. Saw the message too late but was a bit far for me anyway.

  • Still a heap left of the $250 cards in Coles Bacchus Marsh

  • Coles Balwyn got a bunch

  • Dying hrs was a gold mine at some places :)

  • Is anyone getting the "A system error has occurred. Please try again later" message when trying to check the balance of the cards online?

    • You've made too many enquiries in a short period of time. Try on a different device or wait until tomorrow.

      • Does that also impact the ability to use the card as it currently does not work when trying to use it online or in store and there is sufficient balance to cover the purchase amount.

        • Managed to get through to the call center and appears the issue was setting a PIN via the Coles Mastercard Balance website. Seems that this causes issues in the backend and therefore should not be done. If a PIN is needed, they advised that it should only be set when making an instore purchase

          • @iceshadow: How long did you have to wait to get through the customer support phone? Been waiting for almost an hour now 😅 I have the same issue as you

            • +1

@joe900joe: I called them a few times in the last week and it was usually around 20 minutes.

    • Are others still getting this error? I've tried several times over the last week or so, on different browsers and different systems and get this same error every time except for one random time (for which I can't identify anything I did differently) that it worked. I don't have any PIN set. I think that's just a made up excuse to get a caller off the phone.

      • In my case I found the solution was to use my phone data network instead of the home router. Probably something to do with the firewall in my router, haven't investigated further.

        • I think they block your IP after a few attempts. That's why you can use your phone to check. My laptop has 4G data and I use it to get a new IP when the silly captcha starts to pop up.

          • @truetypezk: Wouldn't surprise me, could be a security measure against the numerous mentions of people having their cards "hacked". But I had the problem since first attempt (excluding using it a number of times months ago after previous promotions) so something else is going on as well.

            • @tbone74: I am on a slightly different boat. I manage to access all five of my cards on first attempt, I have then set a pin code for each.

However it's been 2 weeks now I am using the card, 3 of them worked, but 2 of them gives error "A system error has occurred. Please try again later" message…. I am also not allowed to use these two cards at any merchant, it will result in a "Card declined, contact card issuer" error

please tell me I am not hacked please T-T

              • +1

@b0b0: There is a chance InComm have blocked the two cards, due to suspicious activity.

I used a Coles Mastercard gift card in-person at two merchants earlier this week (and I set a PIN on the first transaction), but I then changed the PIN online. When I tried to use it at a third merchant in-person and provided the new PIN, the EFTPOS terminal said Card declined, contact card issuer.

I tried checking the card’s balance online, but I got A system error has occurred. Please try again later. I also tried to check the balance over the phone, but the automated message said there was a problem with my card and I would need to speak to a rep.

The InComm rep explained that their systems detected suspicious activity and blocked my card. After a back-and-forth with the rep, they eventually unblocked the card and it has worked since without any issues.

@WookieMonster: Brilliant thanks!! I'm going to call them now..

                    @b0b0: Any luck?

                    • +2

@WookieMonster: the customer service rep unblocked the two giftcards for me.

You are totally right. The two that has issue are the one I tried swiping at retailer after setting pin online.

Thanks for saving me out of misery

                • @WookieMonster: hijacking this thread to tell @WookieMonster that all my cards have suddenly blocked Pinduoduo about 4~5 days ago. (Pinduoduo's error during checkout specifically refers to bank rejecting them not vice versa).

Rendering the few use cases that I have for this card completely gone.

Which also revealed something weird, on the website it says these cards cannot be used with non-Australian merchants. Which contradicts with the physical manual which talks about the international fees.

                  • +2

@sunnysteve: I am a little surprised that non-Australian websites are listed as exclusions, because there is nothing like that in the terms and conditions on the website either. I don’t think I have used one of these cards at a non-Australian merchant though, so I am not sure whether this is something I have noticed from experience either.

Another thing to consider is that it says on the back of the gift card packaging:

Welcomed at millions of locations where Mastercard cards are accepted.

I really doubt there are millions of locations in Australia where Mastercard is accepted. That statement really only makes sense if you also count international locations where Mastercard is accepted.

If your complaints are getting nowhere with InComm (and that is my expectation, because InComm are generally unhelpful), my suggestion is you lodge a complaint against Heritage Bank through AFCA. That should light a fire under Heritage Bank and get them (and InComm) to either unblock Pinduoduo, or clarify their terms and conditions to explicitly say that all non-Australian merchants are blocked.

                    • +3

@WookieMonster: I'd rather prefer them to block non-Australian websites to make the cards less likely to be hacked lol.

                      • +1

@truetypezk: Very true, but if that is their intention (and I can understand those intentions), they should at least be upfront about it.

You are right about less likely to be hacked though, because someone recently messaged me about one of their Coles Mastercard gift cards being fraudulently used at a brothel in Brisbane! It also reminds me of the time a parachute company in Sydney had quite a few payments made using the old Coles Gift Mastercards…

                    • @WookieMonster: Thanks for the tips I didn't know about InComm and AFCA. I tried calling the phone number on the card but the number doesn't seem to exist… Which imo is a red flag for a bank issued card.

I'll go ahead with the process you mentioned, but realistically if the rest of the process involves me giving away all my details then I'll probably just spend the rest of the cards on groceries :(

                      • @sunnysteve: I just called the number on the back of the gift card - (07) 5660 6022 - and I was able to get through. Are you sure you dialled that number?

                        • +1

@WookieMonster: I have called this number many times and got thru but occasionally there was just an engaged signal.

Is anyone having issues using these cards at Woolies? Have tried on two occasions, different cards and they decline now.

    • +2

I have not had any recent issues redeeming any of my Coles Mastercard gift cards at Woolworths.

What error message are you getting on the EFTPOS terminal after you ask to pay by card (or select on the checkout to pay by card)?

      • Did you get an error message as soon as you swiped the card saying Mastercard - Item Not Allowed? If this was the case, Woolworths would not show the PIN prompt screen, because Woolworths is refusing to process any payments from your card in the first place for the type of purchase you are trying to do.

      • Alternatively, after you swiped the card and are greeted by the PIN prompt screen, what error message did you get after you entered the correct PIN and pressed OK (or simply did not enter a PIN and pressed OK)?

      • Alternatively, after you swiped the card, did the EFTPOS terminal skip the PIN prompt screen and attempted to contact the card issuer to process the payment, and then the card issuer declined the transaction?

If it was one of the last two scenarios, Woolworths’ checkouts should have printed a small receipt with the card issuer’s reason for declining the transaction, and that would help to pinpoint what could be the problem you are facing.

Btw, what happens if you try to check the available balance of the two gift cards (either online or over the phone)? Are you able to see/hear the balance?

  • So trying to use up a batch of these I just found in the drawer

When trying to use cards that have an expiry in late 2027 Post Bill Pay will decline them as "suspected risk"

Luckily I can then use them directly on the Council website to pay rates, but hope this is not a sign of them being rejected from Post Bill Pay
