      Congratulations on turning 16!

but you are only allowed to do maximum 20km/h on 60km/h and below roads.

It really doesn't make sense how they legalise 25KM/H capable scooters, but you are throttled to 20KM/H? What difference does the 5KM/H made to have such weird restriction?

      • +1

Presumably it's so that they can fine you if they feel like it or not on target…

      • yeah now that we have to ride on roads i would argue 20kmh is too slow and borderline unsafe. Not like my Mi 3 scooter can do 25kmh easily anyway..

    • It's still just the 6 month trial, right? It hasn't been properly legalised yet?

    • Not this one. Any scooter above 200W is illegal, apparently.

      • lol

      • @penno2 You're linking the old laws not the current laws, here it is e-scooters in Victoria

        • Maybe! Hopefully. The stuff I linked, with the 200W limit, doesn't have an expiry that I could see and the link you've provided doesn't state a power limit (only the speed limit). I'd be surprised if there was no power limit (some of these beasts could get up to 25km/h faster than many cars).

@penno2: You'll notice on the link I posted that it states from April 5 (2023) they will commence a 6 month trial.
So that's probably why VicRoads haven't removed the link you posted, but unless there is really strong opposition to the trial I can't see how they can turn back. As now companies like JB-HiFi Harvey Norman etc are pushing hard into the lucrative scooter market.
In the trial details I haven't seen a set motor limit size and yes i agree, some of the high powered scooters could accelerate faster to 25kph than many cars. I wish they would ban the import of these scooters, some of them claim that their scooters can do 90kph+!
I think they want to simplify the laws, max speed of the scooter can be no more than 25kph, yet peculiarly the max speed of the rider can only be 20kph?!

Is this better for Uber Eats or Menulog asking for a friend who likes cricket

i have one, it's ok if you're just starting out. But the lack of suspension and power is really getting to me lately.

also, after around ~50% charge it will cut power to preserve range which i really hate.

  • What's the rules in WA ,can these be tuned easily for higher speeds?
