Unable to Get Proof of Closure for NAB Now Pay Later

Does anyone has any idea how I can provide proof that shows I have closed the NAB Now Pay Later card?

I cancelled that card 3 weeks ago and NAB said they were not able to provide any closure letter or statement for this product. A product that affects my credit score. I have made a complaint to NAB and they got back to me saying the same thing again.

I was applying for a home loan and one of the conditions is that I need to provide proof of that card cancelation before settlement.

I am now stressed out and fearing of losing the deposit because of something I have already done correctly but having no proof. I really hope someone can help me out here.
Thanks

  • When I cancelled my NAB CC, I got my Closure letter via below steps:
Log into Internet Banking (desktop version) -> Profile & Settings -> Letters
You should be able to view and download your Closure letter from there…

    • I tried that but nothing shows in there. I called them and they said the pay later card doesn't have closure letter and there's nothing they could do since its a new product.

  • Investment or PPOR?

  • Can't you just use the email they sent you?

    • there wasn't any email confirmation when I cancelled it.

Can you email or web chat them to get them to put it in writing that it is cancelled and they are not able to provide the closure letter? You could then use the email/chat log as evidence that it is closed.

No reason to keep it, do they not offer any rewards like Afterpay does? Got some really great deals with Afterpay over the years.

      Did you even read OP?

The first line or two, sure.

        • Did you?

@deme: Well opening it again would still count as "keeping" it imo. If you throw your wedding ring in the trash, then take it out of the trash you are keeping your ring.

            • @AustriaBargain: That would be retrieving it. You can't keep something you no longer have.

              • @deme: So you put the ring in the bin, then you think for a second and reach in and do you say "I think I'll keep it actually" or "I think I'll retrieve it actually"?

                • @AustriaBargain: Didn't think about that, good point

                  • @deme: Retrieving it is the act of collecting. Keeping is more the overarching act of Retaining it. They're not always mutually exclusive.

  • It’s a credit card. The status will show as closed on your credit report.

  • weren't not able to provide any closure letter

    That's good news then.

The only thing I took from this post was you seemingly laid down a deposit before confirming your finance. Buh Booooow.

Walk into a branch, ask the manager to issue you a letter on letterhead.

Prepare a statutory declaration that you closed the account. The lender may be able to accept that as proof.

  • Can you ask the lender their definition of proof?as in are there other documents you can provide (like a stat dec, as mentioned above)?

Get an updated copy of your credit report. It should show the facility as closed.

  • I closed my CBA Step Pay account a couple of weeks back. I was checking to see some evidence of closing the account, but like OP, I could not find an email or statement online. However, my credit report shows it as closed, so I assume it will be the same for OP in a couple of weeks.
