  • how does this one compare to the PL1H ?

    • PL1 is better in different way. This one is better to put in the living Room and the PL1 is better for darker room.

May as well put 120L5FSET in title….
And pretty sure this is single lens.

Maybe wait for a 20% off and get 120L9g. Or wait a couple of months for 120L9h which comes with Google TV and better contrast.

      Done!

      • Cheers !
        Didn't you buy a L9g ?

        • I ended cancelling that! The news about the L9H was saying the projector would come this month (what ended being untrue as it got delayed).

I got the PL1 after that. It was half price compared to the L9G.

          • @Dienk: Yeah apparently it's coming in winter. I got mine delivered a month ahead of schedule. Looking good on plain wall, haven't set up the ALR screen yet. Mate of mine bought it 6 months ago and got a 2020 screen, mine is more recent.

    • Are you sure the L9H comes with Google TV (in Australia?)

I intended to buy one of these Hisense projectors but then found out we get a different version than in the US making basically all of the reviews irrelevant. Really sucks when companies pull this sort of crap where they have different hardware/features for the same product depending on the region.

    • That only applies to the L9G.

Just search for reviews from UK as hisense has 2 units: one for US and other internacional.

    • We do miss out but doesn't seem to be a big deal, for example highlighted in this deal
I pulled the trigger on the 100L9g and waiting for Latitude to get their sh!t together and pay off my PP claim…
Sure the new model is gonna be better but I've got 12 months to get the current model as cheap as possible..

  • was it all UST or just this one that had to be very exactly placed as it doesnt zoom? eg you specifically need a very exact spot to install the screen?

    • This one has fixed size and focus

      • I have a 100L5 and 100-inch screen. Can I buy a 120-inch screen and use it with 100L5?

  • Does anyone know if these kind of displays are still subject to DLP rainbows?

Had a 50 inch DLP rear projection tv years ago and after using it for a while I stopped noticing the rainbows so when I bought a DLP BenQ projector I thought the same would occur, but it never did, I continued noticing rainbows every time I watched a movie on the thing. Not really keen to repeat that experience again.

L9g does. But this is single lens so may not.
Edit: number of lenses may not matter in this instance.

      Found this comment:
As long as it's single chip DLP, there's a possibility of rainbow effect even with tri-laser. Reason is RGB color will need to flash sequentially on single chip. The only advantage over color wheel is the timing can be tighter and laser can be turn on/off instantaneously which should reduce rainbow effect.

      • Thanks for the reply. Looks like I'm best to find one set up somewhere and see if I notice them, before taking the chance on buying it sight unseen.

There's some Hisense tricolor laser models that might not be so prone to rainbows, but they're more expensive. Start to wonder if I'm better off with a 100 inch tv.

I've tried the LG and the Hisense and they, like most UST projectors suffer from judder on 24P material (ie movies). I've ended up returning them and gone with the Epson laser projector. Bright enough for a fully lit room, super low lag for gaming, good 3D and no rainbows, and most important to me, no 24Hz judder. I love it, the only drawback is it sits a bit more away from the wall than the other brands, but the picture quality is far superior. I'm running mine at 110"
I also have an OLED 65" but we almost never use it since getting the Epson.

      • Which LG and which Hisense?
So the Epson is 120hz ? Which model did you get?
