I bought a phone at jb hifi on Saturday but the front camera is incredibly shockingly rubbish, unfortunately I have opened the box so jbhifi won't exchange it - any tips to get around this?

Unless the phone is not doing what is advertised (EG take good night time photos), it will be hard to get an exchange. Even by using the," it's not fit for purpose" reasoning.
Most times it's not the camera that is the problem, but the software running it. Have you had any luck googling the phone model + poor camera? Maybe someone else has found a different app that works much better

you need to know the secret code, once you whisper the code to the employee, you get free reign in the store?
What phone is it? Depending on its description you may be able to return it on a technicality.
Once phones are opened there's no way in hell JB will return it for change of mind.

Is the camera faulty or just rubbish to begin with?
If it operates as designed and you are simply changing your mind from lack of research then sell it on marketplace of choice, cop the loss, do more research then purchase a more suitable device.
