Not fully automated. You need to stream the milk yourself.

    • +15

      stream the milk

      On youtube or tiktok live?

    • Thanks this is a good point. For one that does milk too I'd go this one: https://www.davidjones.com/product/delonghi-ecam29083tb-magn…

Good tip, however this lead me to the one below, and I think by spending $100 more it also does milk as well and is a more rounded machine (Save $800 as well)

So does this one just kind of cum the milk out, like the ones at 711 and Coles Express?

No rubbing the nozzle up and down with a sponge after?

Lucky I keep a cow next to my coffee machine

Thats not a nice thing to say about jv's missus

    • Your right and the thread title should be changed to automatic instead of fully automatic.

I made the mistake of buying the wrong model last year because i thought automatic meant the milk was too.

    • +3

Most people will opt for this version as the one with built in milk dispenser ruins the coffee. 20seconds using steam wand makes million times better coffee. Also this would be way more reliable long term and cheaper to buy.

FYI, the RRP for this one is absolutely nowhere near $1300. I think David Jones are just making numbers up since full RRP is $700 at JB Hifi.

I’ve have one of these for about 2 years and can’t really fault it so far. These do go on sale semi regularly and are a pretty good option for around the $500 mark.

Got mine for $350 with the DeLonghi code stack deal

      • how did you manage to get DeLonghi code?

  • My $2K Delonghi I bought in 2004 still running strong. Unsure whether they are still the same quality nowadays

    • +9

Nothing is the same quality nowadays

My 2007 $700 delonghi only recently had to have the infuser replaced after 15 years, which I've never known the need to regularly clean and lubricate with silicone grease…

The infuser replacement was only $30 bux and very reasonably priced.

Internals are basically 99% the same over the last 15 years.

I have one of these machines and love it. I made up a block to sit under the steamer for hands free milk frothing - see picture https://imgur.com/a/CK75Slh

My son has used his 3D printer to make me a new stand which I will pick up tonight - https://imgur.com/a/CWxqsrX

    • I like that idea. I used a can of food to get the height but purpose built is a good idea

    • I like to be abit creative with frothing.

      Completely changes the coffee experience.

    • Tested it out this morning - very good and looks stylish too https://imgur.com/a/Mp5WnHZ

No deal $5 at bunnings. Get it there on facebook. ;)

    • that's what I was thinking.

    • That was a scam wasn’t it?

      • Yes, of course 😀. Bunnings doesn’t even sell them.

  • Bought it during last deal for $389, great machine using it daily

I've had this machine for just over a year (Purchased with JB Hi fi/Telstra voucher FTW).

Paired with the Aldi beans its pretty good.

For the milk I just pre heat in the Microwave for 30 seconds, simples.

Would recomend for this price for anyone looking for a bean to cup machine.

As per previous posts. I repair these machines and tried most. Currently have 7 Delonghi variations I need to move on via FB marketplace. Pretty much all Delonghis are the same inside. The Delonghi's will basically last forever as long as you clean and lubricate the brew group + descale regularly.
No matter the model, they all make coffee the same way. Just the milk frothing ability changes.
The biggest issue is the depth of the puck vs diameter (giving it poor Surface area), the grinders have a lot of variation (many are way too coarse on the finest setting), they use a pressurised basket setup, plus you can't control the tamp. All the most important parts of an espresso are out of your control. The result is basically very average convenient coffee. I'd argue the higher end instants have a better taste unless you are using super fresh beans.
Jura have a better SA:V ratio, and make a much better espresso. But cost significantly more new. However, the resale/ second hand market for Jura is cheap. However, Jura brewgroups can't be removed and cleaned as easily as a Delonghi. But they have an "auto clean" function that kind of works. But means you will be dumping the bottom tray more frequently.
Breville and Sunbeam 58mm manual machines have a much larger diameter puck (best SA:V), allow you to see the grind and set the tamp. No auto machine can get close to the quality they produce.
In summary, if you want quality coffee, go a manual machine. If you want convenience, get a second hand Jura. If you get a Delonghi, keep your shot super short. Most full fine grind pucks are around 10g. So anymore than 25 -30ml liquid and it will be bitter.

    • How about breville machines

Longevity you mean? They are pretty good. Just remove/ clean the shower screen regularly (1 screw). Descale to stop valves sticking. They do use a plastic elbow internally that is likely to eventually crack (water will then leak out the bottom)..but a straight forward repair. Coffee quality is about as good as it gets in a home machine.

    • Mine one grinds too course on the finest setting. Is there a way to adjust it?

      • +2

Yes. Back, sides, top off. Mark grinder burr locations with texta (for reference in case you stuff it up). Move it one tooth finer at a time until you are happy, or it clogs (then back it off one). Don't go too far or it will go metal on metal. To remove the top burr completely (if you want to check how warn they are) turn fully anticlockwise once the top plastic ring clip is removed.

        • Thanks. What exactly am I to move? The grinding adjuster (will it move more once disassembled) or the center burr?

          • +2

@muststop: The top burr. Its on a ramped thread. As you turn it, it drops lower, making the grind finer. Use the adjuster knob as reference for which way is finer.

*Note - you wont be able to get it proper Espresso fine. The puck diameter is too small/ too deep to allow water to get through. But definitely better.

P.S. side covers slide left/ right or up/ down to release. Dont force anything. Come away easily with the right technique.

            • +1

@tunzafun001: That's clear. Thanks for taking time to write it up. Much appreciated.

  • How do I get the additional 10% discount? Want to see if it'll work on some other DJs items.

Nevermind, I see the 10% off is applied in cart for specific items.

I've used this machine for about 3 years and it's still going strong. It has probably saved me thousands of dollars that would otherwise have gone to a cafe.

Coffee snobs might find fault here, but for me the latte quality is well and truly in the good-enough range. It's not as good as the fanciest cafe you've ever been to, but I've certainly been to establishments that have served worse.Would recommend.

  • No longer the same price.

  • Still good price $599 available on https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/394552610848?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mk…
