[Opened Box] Apple iPhone XR A2105 MRY42X/A - 64GB $296.99 ($290.39 eBay Plus) Delivered @ Compnow eBay

300
APRSAV10APRSAV12

Good deal as they are cheaper than refurbished units, even the refurb ones at Coles.
From what I read, correct me if I am wrong as I have not bought refurb iPhones, the refurbished ones usually don't come with earpods or power charger, just the charging cable.
These opened box ones come with the standard accessories, plus case and screen protector pre-applied.

These Apple iPhone XRs were excess stock that were set up to be deployed. They have therefore never been used and have a screen protector and case already on the devices.

The Apple warranty for these Apple iPhones has expired however we do have 3 month hardware warranty.

These Apple iPhone XRs were excess stock that were set up to be deployed. They have therefore never been used and have a screen protector and case already on the devices.

      • Hmmmm, that's interesting. Wouldn't normally recommend a ten series but if these have only ever been on for an hour when setup then they are practically new.

I mean that's kind of worse than being used in a way, because the battery will have been stuck in a low power state for a long time.

These devices maybe used as for device lab (eg. app testing remotely)
while the finishing maybe still as new, devices in device lab are always plug on power 24/7 so the battery capacity might have drained overtime

IMO better to get a license refurbish apple product that usually have brand new / nearly new battery

      • You are second guessing incorrectly. CompNow is an Apple corporate seller (google their name), no doubt they sometimes have cancelled or changed contract with customers. Why would they bother putting cases and screen protectors on devices used for testing? There were previous deals of open box keyboards and mices (from new Macs that customers did not require) at this store.

I would be thinking the other way round, if the device is not dealing with manual handling, there's even no need to put cases on
The reason of putting cases on is to prevent from any accidents when involves handle by human

In my old work place where we got over 60 mobile devices in the lab, all devices were in military grade case and screen protector
there were chances that requires staff to manually unplug the phone / tablet from cable to do works such as firmware upgrade or reboot
we need to keep some of the phones up-to-date in firmware / OS to make sure the app testing are relevant to current market

In regards to "open box", these devices might be post-lease devices to corporate
they were not bought it out-right but just paying a monthly / contract lease fee
and returned back to the leasing company at end of lease
My company used to have contract to these type of company like Telestar
which doing the leasing mobile devices / laptops businesses

          • @littlesoldier: In which case, they'd be advertised as used, this is clearly advertised "They have therefore never been used". Why would an Apple authorised corporate reseller risk their business with false advertising otherwise? On a $300 phone LOL?

      • "Opened box" implies that it is otherwise new. If the condition isn't guaranteed to be new and it may have been in an lab as a bank of phones for years then the title should be changed.

I think the point is that according to Compnow they haven’t been used. Just setup.

The rest of this comment thread is people refusing to believe that is the case.

My workplace gets a bunch of phones and has a profile put on them. That way they can hand them out to new staff. Some may not get used.

Good for tax deduction, under $300

    • What do you mean? 🤔

      • +4

If it's over $300 then you have to calculate the depreciation over multiple years, under $300 then you can deduct all of it at once. Unless you get into trickery and turn hardware into services somehow…

And all these funny stories - excess stock, opened but never used, 'deployed', has case on the device??? 'shop warranty' lol Honestly, maybe if it's $50 but not $300

    • Yeah , I don't think so !

  • CompNow takes care of IT deployment at my work. Since they source in bulk, it's possible to be an overstock, possibly hasne affected the battery at all as they stay off until deployed and admin config loaded.

  • DeLorean Deployed

  • Any creative ideas what this (spare phone) can be used for?

    Phone a friend?

  • Link not working for anyone else? Also can't find it by searching on eBay manually.

  • Link shows no longer available unfortunately

  • Relatively minor point but the description says it has a USB-C cable. Picture shows a type A cable as well as adapter. From memory Apple didn’t ship USB C adapters until the following years IPhone 11 Pro, so if they ship the original box contents then I’d imagine you’re getting a Type A adapter and cable.

    • It come with the older lightning cable and all accessories (new).

  • Reminder

It will not support in iOS 18 if the current trend is correct

  • Bugger missed out!

  • tbh these are worth like $250 by this point.
