I am in the market for a new bed and mattress combo, budget wise anything between 2K-5K
Any recommendation and anything to avoid?
Bed Frame and Mattress Combo

Do you have a preference for size, mattress construction, bedroom aesthetics?
Queen, something that looks modern or natural wood type
not very picky on the look but after quality and comfort.I did some googling and choice reading, sleeping duck seem like a decent brand but I will keep looking for a few more brands and compared
With a 5K budget I suggest you test some of the Tempur mark-downs
Wow, beds are getting expensive.
The Koala bed and base is pretty good IMO
Just bought a Koala mattress/bedframe combo. Don't forget sign up bonus and Cashrewards (capped at $35)
Just read the choice report Emma Comfort top the list follow by Sleep Republic
a lot of social media promoting brand like Ecosa and Sleeping Duck don't get rate highly and not on recommended list
Koala Calm get 4th spot but I don't like soft mattress, it firm or medium firm for me.Man so many brands, promotions and social media review it hard to know, I probably need to dig out various independent report
I reckon you need to test them out, by visiting Ikea and Harvey Norman to try the various innerspring and foam options; and/or getting a 100-night free-trial of your preferred mattress in-a-box. My elderly parent wanted a cheap mattress - I acquired an Emma and a Koala for her to choose from, they're somwehat different
It's a bummer that the post from Karl above was unpublished as it actually had a bunch of good info which I'd been referring to in my mattress hunt. He had mentioned mattress underground which I have found to be a great source of community/crowd sourced info about how mattresses are made. Seems to be USA focussed but was really good to get an understanding to help see through the marketing spin.
