All time lowest price

Basically a SK Hynix Platinum P41 by another name.
Same hardware, but different tuned firmware, from the Intel SSD division and SK Hynix merger.

Probably the best all round SSD right now that maintains impressive speed as the drive fills up.
Only if you want the best, since most will not notice much of a difference to other cheaper high end ones like the SN850x

  • 2TB gen4 for over $300 + delivery….. prices have been crashing everywhere for some time now. I don't think this is a deal at all imo.

    Good drive, normal price
SK Hynix, Samsung and Western Digital are the only 3 to make drives with their own controllers and NAND

    • I think crucial (micron) is another?

  • Bummer, need a ~$200 2TB deal on one i can use in the PS5

  • Okay, any drongos getting pissy about this don’t know what they are talking about.

    Do NOT buy this if:
    You own a desktop

    Do buy this if:
You own a laptop and need something that is by far the most power efficient on the market with the performance it give and won’t generate a tonne of heat.

Drongo's?? It's bad value for money. In a laptop or pc, you seriously won't see any advantage over most other M.2 ssd's. Speed, sure it loads fast but install this and anothet brand, you won't notice the difference.
As for heat, what would you be doing to get it cranked up hot enough to throttle? Only massive power users will experience that!
      So pissy drongo's?? Nah

      • You obviously don’t own and use a thin and light laptop professionally. Many nvme drives can chug back juice.

        • naaaah i'm obviously a drongo hey

          Get a better laptop lmao

  • How does it compare to the Samsung 990 pro.

    • They trade blows, but P44 Pro is more effcient

  • This is a brilliant drive for specific use cases because of the, great performance coupled with low power and temperature, I've been looking for good prices on them to run in ITX builds and forgo the fan that a lot of ITX motherboards have.

The heat issue of NVMe drives hasn't really hit the headlines quite yet, I'm guessing it will be a significant issue for PCIe 5.0 drives even in desktop builds, expect more ridiculous heatsink solutions to appear.
