That would void its stealthiness. This is an assassins watch
exactly what i did.
how easy is it to read in the sun or dark?
If you want to try out a negative display but don't want to spend this much you could always get the Skme 1628 Dual Time - US$9.27 + GST delivered.
It's affiliated with CR so will be 20% cashback starting @7pm today.
Yeah @Hornpub, the Skmei would look good on you..
Also free returns on the watch in the OP if you want to go that way.
I have an M5610 (negative display) it’s easy to read in the daylight, a bit tricky/difficult in low light, but I can use the backlight if required (Mine is solar powered, so I don’t worry about the battery drain).
A couple of other DW5600 options in that price range:
Inverse/red $101.18 - https://www.amazon.com.au/GSHOCK-DW5600MS-1-Black-Digital-Di…
Inverse/red strap $99.00 - https://www.amazon.com.au/GSHOCK-Automatic-digital-Display-D…
Standard $112.00 - https://www.amazon.com.au/Casio-G-Shock-Classic-Digital-Dw56…
Standard $112.00
Has "Used - Like New" option for $99.99 Shipped.
Also by the way all those models use the 3229 module, which is considered by some to be an new "inferior US market module" due to it's difficult to press adjust button that's recessed further than other modules. This can be an issue for some users as it makes it harder to regularly set the time/change their alarm/reset the stopwatch.
But on the other hand the 3229 from what I have seen has a much clearer and more legible negative display which has better contrast.
You also get EL backlight and flash alert (flashing light together with alarm/CDT noise).
Also worth pointing out since it took me awhile to notice this. The negative display 3229's don't have visibly different indicator "icons" like the positive 3229's have. The hourly signal, alarm, AM/PM indicators are basically all squares with three letters inside so they can be harder to differentiate compared to the differently shaped icons of the positive display 3229.

Awesome watch. Can get a metal frame/strap from aliexpress for around $70 and swap it out easily
