    Cheaper at Apple AOC https://www.apple.com/au_edu_5000447/shop/buy-mac/macbook-pr…

    1TB $3820
    512GB $3532

    • Noooooo, whyyyyyy. Happens every time.
Checked last night, bought this morning, well with 5% off GCs so not too bad

      • The gift card is 10% atm. Hope I push enough salt to your wound.

    • Oh, this is EDU btw. Does it restrict others from buying from this link ?

      • No, you just choose to ship to you.

  • Ten percent off? Almost standard JB price.

  • Who the hell is buying these

    • Some are called data scientists 😂
      Some are UI designers

      • +1

Some are app developers (Xcode is one hungry CPU-bound beast).

      • Do you buy with your own money? Or office pays for these?

        • my company got me an m2 max 16" for development, personally I have an m2 pro 14".

          • @theFunGuy: Cool, Can you forward my resume to your manager ;)

            Just kidding.

16GB RAM – not enough memory

      I love the spirit!

Unless you don't do intensive app and memory usage like browsing and word documents

        • We know, we all know…

They are very bulky and heavy, and does not look modern at all if close the lid.

I have one M1 Pro version from work. Keyboard is fantastic the best keyboard ever use.

    • What's modern then? A RGB chassis?

Just curious as we all see how it looks.

      • -1

        A Lenovo X1 looks much modern(lid close)

        • Lid close and hidden in a bag, some friends say ;)

    • They did go a little retro with these.

Looking forward to the potential 15” Air if it ever arrives. I don’t need the cores of this Pro, but do need a large screen.

  • Lid closed lol

    • +1

Lid closed. display via external monitor(s), input via external keyboard, mouse, microphone and camera. isn't it typical WFH setup?

      • On point though. Doing the same 🤣

So realistically, all you need is a MacBook with a broken screen at 1/2 price ish.

    • lid open and power on is absolutely modern and stylish. unfortunately I usually do not use this way

  • These are absolute monsters for development, unfortunately the company i work for sent me a 14" Yoga X1 with 11th gen quadcore intel processor for java/aws development. Because thats the best they have :D

    • I'm still using i5-8600 + 8GB RAM for Java at one large government department !

      • TBH, the CPUs are not that far apart. That 14" chasi with a super small heatsink probably makes it slower than yours. https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare/3814vs3251/Intel-i7-116…

But with 8GB Ram, its time you quit or secretly open the laptop and put some memory in there yourself.

    • Probably a uni graduate in Corporate doing the purchasing choices.

Don’t get me started on how they spec out work cars for western Queensland.

  • I bought a Mac Pro today from Jb Hifi. Also bought the extended warranty. I am wondering if I should quit the warranty as it feels overblown. It cost me around $4k, .. so…

    • How much the extended warranty cost?
