    • That's the price back in 2020 when I bought it

Can not edit due to reply, I meant WH-1000XM4. Forgot which end of the model number differentiates the two.

Three months ago this price got 110 upvotes: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/745017

      • Yeah that's what I meant, the headphone price of $350 is the same as back in 2020

        • They do have XM5's out, too…

  • Dont forget shopback

  • How do these compare to the galaxy buds pro 2 (in the experience of ozbargainers)?

    • +2

These stick out of your ears quite a bit, the Galaxy Buds Pro 2 don't as much

That's just from observation from the 'how to wear your XM4s' video on the product page, I don't own a pair of these (I do the Galaxy Buds) so can't comment on much else

These XM4s do advertise as having 8hrs battery life, which is quite a bit longer than the GBP2s.

Literally everything samsung is shit, customer service shit. They cant invent their product names. Galaxy rats arse.

      WF-1000XM4:
      Snuggier fit
      Heavier
      Better sound quality
      Better battery life
      Average app
Call quality unfortunately isn't the best when commuting on trains etc…
Overall build quality and tips feel better
      Prefer the noise cancellation

      Buds Pro 2
      Lighter
      Smaller
Better call quality (though nothing phenomenal)
Average app (gonna just assume no1 is using these on non samsung devices)

    • buds pro 2 better sound, worse anc. smaller

Bought a refub pair for $147 and can recommend. Much better fit compared to my airpods pro. Newest update also enabled multi link (connected to 2 devices simultaneously).

    • Finally multipoint on the Sony's! Was ready to shell out for these ages ago but didn't because of no multipoint. Ended up with the earfun Air S instead to get this feature.

    • I think I bought mine with the same deal. Excellent condition like brand new.

ANC better than Bose. Apps more configurable. At least on Android.

    • What do you use the multilink for?

  • I use my $20 pair I got from Coles more than these. Bulky and the benefits are really just not noticeable enough.

    • I see these kinds of comments often. Many often recommend the linkbuds S over these just from comfort

  • +1

Yes a few months ago I was deciding between linkbuds s or these. I still have XM2's

Very happy I bought linkbuds. Sound is good and you barely notice them on your ears.

  • Or you could get the Linkbuds S for $159.20 with code ATV20 which IMO have a nicer fit.

    • @Bargainsforlife any idea which one's better for ambient noise cancellation?

I usually tend to work from cafe's but that's irritating for people on call, so would these be well enough to reduce ambient noise and only pass my voice?

does anyone else daily drive these? Ever since the latest 2.0.0 firmware update. The right earbud drains battery significantly quicker than the left. At worst, both starting at 100% battery, my left earphone was at 71% and the right was at 4%. The right earphone would completely drain under 2hrs. Currently in the process of RMAing

    • +1

I have the first batch as I preordered when it come out and I don’t have problem with 2.0 and latest firmware. Works pretty much the same and battery life stays the same.

      • i also bought it fairly early in its release, august 2021

    • I've also noticed this just today. After my gym session, left was 80% right was 35%. They started on full as well

    • I have the opposite experience: the left one goes from full charge to zero in c. 20 min.
It is a software problem as it recharge quickly (30 min to full charge instead the full 90 min) and is a wide spread one https://www.reddit.com/r/SonyHeadphones/comments/x7mx2n/wf10…
      https://www.reddit.com/r/SonyHeadphones/comments/yyjtty/sony…

I will try to get Sony to fix them but they are out of the standard one year of warranty and I don't hold my breath.

I would recommend to the potential buyers to wait for the next version (Jun-Sep) https://www.androidauthority.com/sony-wf-1000xm5-3235457/

    • +1

I had to RMA mine because of this issue but it was even worse, the right one would die when the left was at like 90%+. RMA process was a pain (had to follow up with phone calls like 5 times over a month or two) but I got a pair back eventually and they have been great ever since. Didn't notice if it happened after a certain firmware update.

  • Highly recommend these ear buds. It is super comfortable, has a long battery life, good noise cancellation for public transport and the last update allows dual pairing which is amazing as I use it for work Teams call on the laptop and calls on the mobile. Can’t fault it!!!

  • Good price, especially if you have another purchase in the wings to utilise the $50 credit on.

I'm still rocking with the Jabra Elite 75t, battery life is dipping a bit, can't justify this purchase yet. But it's tempting!

    • +1

Hold on, new release should be this august

      • What do you think will they launch at, $399?

  • Is the 12% Cashrewards offer gone? I can only see 4% cash back from Cashrewards

    • 12% cashback starts from 12pm later today

  • +3

Careful with this. I have owned a pair since 2020. Battery life took a nosedive after the update to 2.0. Multipoint connection is cool and all but there is a whole Reddit thread (https://redd.it/x7mx2n) how to downgrade the software to get the battery life back to standards.

Again no ideas on the newly available ones in the market right now.

  • I am going to agree for those who may have stated sound quality is great. Especially feeling the bass better than the other brands imo.

Cons: I can say from an owners perspective, I have owned this since it was first released and still use them, they can start to hurt after an hour use. They aren't the best for smaller ear shapes. The bud casing is large and can start to cause pain points.

I use mine in the gym at home, while cycling and it's fine. Only issue is after long periods you do feel pain. Well I do. Everyone has a different ear shape and size so my experience may not be the same for some however something to keep in mind.

    • Have you tried different tips? As you say, everyone's ear shape & size is different so trying different tips that better suit your ears could help.

      • I tried a smaller one but then get a lot of sound leak and lose fit.
