Looks a good deal considering it comes with controller for $14 on top of the RRP. Shipping costs may break the deal.

Dude, this is the new ZELDA game. The logic behind "stop preordering games" does not apply.

      • I'm a fan but preordering is a horrible trend

        • +3

This guarantees you a physical cart on launch delivered as soon as they are allowed and give you a discount on a branded wired controller. There's no downside. It's the new mainline Zelda game, it's going to be great.

@AustriaBargain: It'll probably leak at least a few days early though

          • +1

@AustriaBargain: It won't sell out here. Not a big enough market.

          • @AustriaBargain: Look i agree that we know what we're getting with this game. Zelda has definitely had total clunkers in the series though. Spirit tracks was an insufferable turd. I couldn't make myself finish it no matter hard i tried (it might even be the only game ive chosen to not finish)

            • +2

@justtoreply: I loved Spirit Tracks. Of all the train based Zelda games it's my number one favourite.

            • -4

              @justtoreply:

Spirit tracks was an insufferable turd.

Still better than Breath of the Wild.

              • +1

@PainToad: Spirit tracks is my #2 worst game ever. #1 is Travis strikes back.

I'm not including indie games or games that I clearly should have given up after 10 minutes. I'm talking games that I invested decent time into, believing they should get better.

                • @justtoreply: Oh dear I'm just about to start playing Travis strikes back… It's that bad?

                  • @AnonyL: I'm pretty sure it was made by a single work experience kid

I remember trying to find in the menu where the rest of the game was too. To this day i still feel like i must have missed something

            • +1

              @justtoreply: THANK YOU!

That and Skyward sword aren't good games

      • Honestly, it kinda does even more bc of that. Did you forget how many times BotW got delayed?

Considering Metroid Prime, Bayonetta, and several other high profile Nintendo games have been delayed in recent years too, further, add in the attrocious state of the last Pokemon game, yeah, I wouldn't be throwing down money in advance for the first game to release with Nintendo's new higher RRP.

        • The last pokemon game wasn't made by Nintendo, the previous pokemon games also had glitches. Mario odyssey on the other hand is by Nintendo and released in a good state as did BOTW.
Im pretty confident this will be the case for TOTK.

        • +1

What? There's a significant difference between preordering games that has only just been announced, that may still be several years and major delays out from release, versus preordering a game that's probably already gone gold.

        • +2

There's no way Tears is not a near perfect game just like botw was. Nintendo wants to sell 100 million copies over the next 10 years and it'll be ported to Switch 2 and Switch 3.

      • +3

There are VERY few developers who I trust to pre-order games from. But Nintendo, especially a BIG Nintendo game, they're automatically on the allowed list.

EA, Sony, Microsoft, 2K, Konami, 100% DO NOT PRE-ORDER. Big Nintendo Games — just (profanity) buy it.

      • +1

        Here are a few rebuttals.

"CDPR made The Witcher 3 and Keanu Reeves is in it!"

"Every WoW expansion has been great so far. It's Blizzard!"

"Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim… the MMO will be the same!" (to be fair, ESO is actually great)

"BioWare knows what they're doing. EA don't have that much control over them, right? Right?"

"Microsoft said it will be the best Halo ever!" - every Halo since Halo 3

Now, Zelda has a fantastic legacy and I am sure Tears of The Kingdom will be an amazing sequel to BotW, but nobody can deny that there have been some less desirable Zelda games in the past, and there will be in the future.

        • CDPR had a long history of mediocre and janky games. Witcher 3 was GOAT god tier game, but it was obviously a fluke if you looked at their history.

All the mainline Scrolls games were great, you'd be crazy not to get the next one if you're a fan. There's no way Microsoft risks pulling a Fallout 4 with Scrolls. They probably regret the shortcuts they made with Skyrim as it is.

And BioWare was great, back in the day you could count on their games being genuinely great even though they were all jank.

But Nintendo's reputation is rock solid going back to before many of us were even born. There has never been a mainline Zelda game that was bad, with the exception of Zelda II, and there probably never will be because Nintendo would sooner cancel a bad Zelda game than release it.

      • As someone who has the rule never to pre-order games, i make exception for zelda and mario

    • +3

      You shouldn't be downvoted.

You have to be an idiot in this day and age to preorder. There's plenty of hyped AAA games that come out and are absolute trash. Nintendo is not some magical publisher that never publishes trash and they're bound to make a mistake eventually.

      • -2

eh you don't have credit card with price protection?

        • +1

“eh” they’re not talking about price being cheaper. Try reading the actual comment again?

      • Actually, they are lol

    • +3

Mate, I bought an entire console in anticipation of this game!

      • hope you bought oled

        • +2

Nah he has a good tv.

        • Yep!

  • +2

Seems like a good find, OP. Not sure who wants a wired controller, but at least the resale of that has to be >$14 😅

    • +5

When the 2nd hand market is flooded with them, it’s not worth $14

      • Not in my area lol

  • +1

the RRP for this game is $70USD which translates to $100AUD anyway, this is a good deal, ordered
edit: $105AUD which makes this even more worth it even with $8 shipping to my area

edit 2: JB hifi has the game standalone for $74 bucks prolly more reasonable tbh

    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/nintendo-switch-the-legen…

    • +1

I don't know why you would look at USD price in Australia but its RRP is probably around $79 in here. Still a pretty good deal though

  • +2

I'm with the other guy, preordering is dumb. Buuuut, this is a pretty swell deal if you wanted the game and a new controller.

I'm keen as a bean for this to be my first new new Switch game on the Steam Deck. Played through Mario Odyssey for the first time since basically launch and it was fantastic.

Edit: So the game is 80 RRP is it not? So 10 bucks more for a controller and a poster. Yeah, pretty decent deal tbh.

  • +10

If you guys are complaining about pre order a physical game, I cant imagine your opinion about pre order a DIGITAL game lol. That is insane.

I NEVER buy a game on the launch date however everyone know that Nintendo games never (or almost never) get cheaper If they are AAA, so this game will be 68-74 bucks forever unless combine with vouchers from ebay.

  • As this is a preoeder, would both the game and controller be factory sealed?

    • Yes.

    • +2

The game probably won't be sealed, it's just how first-party Nintendo games mostly come on release

  • +2

Why do they even make wired controllers these days. It's cheap but that doesn't make it useful so i still see it as a waste of money

  • +4

I bought two of these controllers years back and they both stopped working shortly after.

    • +2

I bought two of these as well, the Mario themed one and one other, both didn't work out of the box.

  • Almost $24 for shipping (regional WA). Kills it.

    • +2

Yep, you generally have to pay more for international shipping

  • Hmm probably an okay price.. I wouldnt advise pre-ordering though unless you are a collector and plan to preserve the original box. (Thats allot of hopium though depending on how well protected it is in shipping.

I seem to recall the Botw PowerA controller being $20-$30 at times though. So if youre a bargain hunter its not going to kill you to keep it late imho.

  • +7

I'll throw in my two cents here - the controller won't have the motion controls necessary for the Zelda experience anyway and JB's have the game for $74. Might be fun to have the controller but value-wise there's very little to gain, especially considering what other commenters have said about this brand's reliability.

  • +2

My Bro got a PowerA Zelda controller for his bday.

    His birthday lasted longer.

The controller left the house by means of the next garbage pickup.

    I'll pass on this.

    • Haha lol
