Bellroy Venture Sling Ecopak 6L $129 @ Milligram

80

There are a number of Bellroy bags and other things on sale at Milligram, particularly the Venture sling in ecopak at $129, which retails at $199, and on sale at other vendors at $156. There aren't many reviews on the ecopak range, but at this price and with free returns I will give it a go.

Also the regular 6L Venture in the weave fabric is $109 here. Note this is the least liked fabric as it is the stiffest.

I don’t get it, it looks like a cheap bumbag?

    • Some people don't want stuff with a giant logo plasted all over it.

      • +4

uniqlo and muji bags don't have a giant logo on it, probably only 1/5th the price

        • I'm not talking about anything beyond the way it looks.

          • @ozbs25: People pay for features/materials/design. This is hardly the most expensive sling, but it is in the higher range. An example of a feature is the gusset opening of the main compartment, makes access a lot easier.

@linx8: You're preaching to the choir. We have a Bellroy sling and an AER sling.

I've got this one, but in black - https://milligram.com/products/bellroy-venture-sling-6l-basa…

It's pretty good to use. I prefer it over Ecopak (which I looked into getting too) because of the wider strap which was more comfortable for me. Good amount of internal organisation for my needs and holds quite a bit. I do feel like for this brand you're paying a lot for the aesthetic.

    • I was tossing up between regular ripstop and the ecopak. Did you inspect the ecopak in person? Can't find it anywhere, so took the plunge with free refunds. I like the bungee strap. It looks like its modelled more closely to the lite sling. Any thoughts on the comparison? Will give it a test but may have to test the regular venture too.

      • +2

Yeah, I looked at both bags in person. There was a store in Sydney that had both (unfortunately it's since closed). David Jones should have some, but stock is quite limited.

The main difference was the material. The Ecopak was a lot lighter, but I personally preferred the thicker material and strap.

There's a fair few videos on YouTube that do comparisons and the Many Baggers subreddit has decent posts for write ups and for people to give their opinions.

/r/manybaggers is both great and terrible. 😉

Thanks mate! To each their own

What do you guys carry around with you? I think our EDC slings are 2.5 or 3 L.

    • An ipad fits in my PD EDC 6L. A bit more expensive than this one, though.

    • Apparently this sling is on the smaller size, so closer to 5L. This is mainly to carry a few items where a backpack would be overkill. Specifically, a 500ml drink bottle, phone wallet keys for short hikes/cruising around town/travel

  • +2

These are great for travelling. Passports, charging cables, pens, sanitizer, masks..

    • +2

And so is every other cheap bumbag…

    • One of the main reasons I got it! Mainly big enough to fit a small drink bottle

      • +1

As much as I would like to put a drink bottle inside a bag/sling I worry a lot about the chances of spillage. I understand there are some great bottles out there that are just about guaranteed not to leak but I am still not game enough to try.

I am thinking about getting a nice Hydro Flask which I'd have to carry around. When I need my hands I'd clip it to my sling or something. That's what I have planned. Biggest hurdle is getting the bottle without ending up in the doghouse. They are so exxy. : (

        • I think you can handle it mate! Plenty of great bottles out there. Take it out on a 'dry' run

        • and lol @ doghouse, I feel ya mate

  • +1

Why so expensive? For this price it should be Balanciaga's

    • +3

it’s ok that you have only heard of one brand

      • They spelt it wrong so maybe not even that one. There are many more expensive brands, too.

but then people would assume you are a groomer.

extremely useful when you have to carry something light and that wouldnt make you look like a dodgy character. I had this for my travels recently and now i use it to store my camera or bring my essentials during occassions when i need it,

  • Does this bag cinch tight? Anyone know if you can wear this bag on a motorcycle?

    • the ecopak only has one side cinch, whereas the regular venture has two. You will prob have to try it out to be sure for riding

    $129 for a sling bag… ouch!

  • +5

I bought this for $143.65 with free shipping (Currently on sale for $169)

    https://milligram.com/products/bellroy-classic-backpack-plus…

I put it in my cart while I was at work and went to put in my email and details to check out but I got distracted and didn't complete the order.

A few hours later when I got home I saw in my emails that they sent me a 15% extra discount which stacked on top.

      this guy ozbargains

  • eshay bruh!

  • price is down to $109.65 now.

according to their returns policy, sale items can only be returned if they are faulty.

    • I bought it at $129 and I ended up returning mine. I went in store and they returned it, no problems. YMMV though.
I did really like the bag, except it was more like the lite bag, at 7L so it was long and tall. The ecopak material is great, and the bungee strap is both functional and looks nice. It is just short of 1-2 internal organisation for phone/wallet. I really wanted to keep it, but sadly too big for my needs.

      • yep the venture ecopak is actually the lite sling with an extra pocket inside. wish they could've added more internal pockets.

look at the new ready sling 2.5L or lite sling mini for something smaller

        • yep! Bellroy are releasing a new mini lite sling in the next few weeks, I'm hoping they added more organisation. If not, most likely will buy the 2.5L ready
