I've been waiting for this phone to finally launch which is reported to have a 24hr launch special price of USD399 which will revert back to a higher price following that.

This represents incredible value just on the FLIR thermal imaging camera alone which as a standalone is already AUD 6-700 retail. The brand also reviews well and the specs are great for its price point, not to mention the incredible battery capacity. Check out the endoscope and microscope as well which looks interesting. Pair with current coupon codes for more savings!

Pair it with code AN35 for an extra USD $35 off

Note: Up to 17GB RAM (12GB+ 5GB Virtual RAM Expansion)

  • hmmm wonder why someone would need thermal imaging camera on a phone. any practical use for this?

to check out how hot the chick is.
to check if she is on the heat.
      Duh!!!

Can be used for inspections of many things from buildings to PC setups when overclocking. Detect moisture, insulation issues, drafts, high temps in cables, circuits or chips, animals etc.

You can get add-on modules for USB-C/Lightning ports instead of buying a whole random unknown device.

You can get add-on modules for USB-C/Lightning ports instead of buying a whole random unknown device.

Note: these are still around ~$400

    • It's very useful as a diagnostics device the same way an OBDII device is to a car. Anyone buying a house can use one to detect draft issues, potential water leaks, moisture etc like what Hybroid has mentioned, and best of all it shows up on a huge screen like this one.

  • ulefone.. havent heard that name in a few years

Mate, what's with the "tiering" snobbery? That's the kind of stupid logic that annoys me the most. I've bought lots of OEM NO brand stuff that has lasted years and are much better than big brands that spends half their budget on marketing. Some of the best value for money dashcams, sound systems, air fryers etc are all brands most general public wouldn't know, but is followed by ozbargainers who seek value. Anyone looking to buy an older house would find this very useful as it can detect moiture and water leaks, potential heating issues etc, rather than pay $1200 for a B&P report, assuming you know what you're doing. Just because you don't understand it doesn't mean it doesn't have value.

    • FLIR cameras cost a lot of money dude, considering how much this device can do (Endoscope, FLIR, Super Long lasting battery, 5G, 120 Hz screen etc) I would say phone has great specs man.

That's a different story that its out of the budget smart phone category. But that's what these companies want to do,
      1. start as a budget company
      2. slowly jack up prices
      3. make phones in mid tier price category (and start competition with high end smartphones)
      4. Battle directly with flagship phones

  • Might get this instead of the s23 ultra 🤣 might cost me half as much and i can throw it at people who piss me off at work maybe.

Didn't realise mobile phones had become a form of weapon !

      • Desperate times call for desperate messured mate 😅

      • +1

        Anything is a weapon,
I once saw John wick kill three men in a bar… with a pencil, with a (profanity) pencil

    • Yeah, this thing is like the G-shock of phones, huge battery and very very rugged. Even has gloves mode which I'm guessing is designed with tradies in mind.

  • 160x120 thermal cam resolution. I doubt whether it will record thermal video at more than 9 FPS due to Flir being locked into the US government controls of their devices.

    • +1

      Why would you need to?

    • Are these FLIR the brand, or FLIR the concept? If it's the latter there's no restriction on them since it's made in China, I picked up a standalone thermal camera from AliExpress that does 25fps without any hassle.

      • Uses the FLIR Lepton thermal camera from FLIR so it's locked to 9Hz instead of 30Hz. Unless you're wanting to mount this on a drone 9Hz really isn't bad for uses like Mums Poop Sock mentioned below.

Memory, battery and camera spec are actually not too bad even taking out the thermal for the price. Only gripe is the 406g of body weight without accessories which is in between ipad mini and ipad air.

I have the 18T which is the same phone but with a faster processor. The phone is amazing, I have dropped it from some silly heights and it is undamaged, the battery can last a WEEK if I don't use it too much, and it has paid itself off tenfold due to the thermal camera.
I use it to in switchboards to help my bid for upgrades and diagnosis and use it on hot overhead pipes to help my quote for insulation, to those asking why anyone would need the thermal image.

    • My only gripe is the camera. It has ZERO stabilisation so cannot ever take photos on the fly. You have to hold super steady. Also the images such even when steady.

      • Thanks for sharing. I'll test it out once mine arrives!

    • Hi , I am an electronics Technician. Do you think it will be useful while working on Electronic Ciruit boards. Eg. Can I see the component that heats up Pls ??

      • Yes it is excellent for switch boards and PCB's. Any slight temperature difference will show and make the capacitor or fuse show bright red.

      • last ulefone armor 3 I had, No repair shop even wanted to touch this phone, saying random excuses (when it is one of the easiest phone to open up LoL)

  • Does it overlay outlines from the regular camera onto the thermal image? I find this very useful, especially if you take a lot of photos on a job, it helps to remind you what you were looking at.

    • +3

Yes it overlays the image of the primary camera over the thermal. I believe it is adjustable also, it was on my previous flir cameraphone anyway

      • +4

When looking at the thermal photos in the flir gallery you can slide the picture up and down and it will move the thermal up and down and show the raw camera underneath.

  • I had Ulefone Armor 3 a long time ago (absolutely beast phone I had) Until I decided to throw it in air, and started throwing on ground, thinking I am just testing the brick phone which will be totally fine.

End result I may have taken it too far, and mic Broke, cost of fixing that was so much, more than cost of phone honestly.

Plus gave it to a repair shop overseas etc to a family member, and got returned with the outer rubber totally unglued and messed up. End result phone is fixed but now the outer rubber it so f*ed up I dont like to keeping it,

PLUS ulefone has never given me updates to newer android version so its still stuck on older android 8 or something it was.

But I guess that's how these chinese manufacturer's make money, by obsoleting old phones, not giving them updates to indice buyers into new phones by them. I probably would have bought their phones again but man they have also Sky Rocketted their phone prices, if they were around $250-$400 AUD mark I would have bought it.
