Amazon.de, Amazon.it, Amazon.es, Amazon.uk - Still Shipping to Australia?

I was on the fence on buying a PS Vita from them the past few days (~200 aud delivered).

But I think they stopped shipping to Australia.
All the items (mostly gadgets) in my cart have suddenly been marked as 'can't ship this article to this address (Australia). >_>

Just wondering if it's just me or is anyone else having this problem?

  • Do you have a link? If they run out of stock and it goes to 3rd party sellers they won't be able to send to Australia.

Probably because they can't work out how to ship five hundred 47" screens, 300 Dysons, 200 xBoxes, 100 KitchenAid blenders etc etc etc to Australia for the price they charged LOL. It was only a matter of time.

Well, maybe some restraint and patience is the way forward for next time rather than "attacking" them with too many requests at a time.
But in all fairness, I think this has nothing to do with that or Amazon.de but with the companies concerned. The Vita is new and they can make more money if they restrict such export as in Australia -as we all know- companies can charge much higher prices than elsewhere. In six months or a year I am sure you can buy them again from Amazon.de as by that time they will have sold most of what they expected.

@sparkles: Yeah, I had an inkling this was bound to happen.
They are probably losing money, especially with the bad exchange rate

Having just got a 46" TV and 3D glasses (separate packages) express delivered for 40 euros I'm rather pleased, but puzzled as to how Amazon.de could be making money on it in the long term. The initial postage cost is fine, but the killer is sending the product back. Around $300, according to Aust Post, if anything goes wrong with the item over two years. Even sending a Vita back to Germany via registered mail would cost around 10% of the initial purchase price.

In the long term I think it's unsustainable for them.

    • Maybe that's more of an assurance that they will only send you quality stuff!

  • @KingBoo - what is the savings as compared to OZ?

    • not sure the exact savings, but oz price are stupid anyways (300 for the wifi)?
so around 100 bucks I guess.

  • Well, I guess then it is not worth buying it and having it forwarded, right?
That's the only way around the restriction.

While we are speaking of Amazon.de deals, I'm a bit curious about your recent posting spree of Amazon deals. You stated that you are finding these deal via a site (beta?) that trawls through and looks for deals that ship to Australia? Sort of a cross between camelcamelcamel and shipstoaustralia?

      BTW,Do you speak German?

      • langton info maybe

  • Yes and yes. I also look at France, Italy, and Spain but little deals and no shipping to Oz.
I am NOT affiliated with Amazon in any way other than that I like their reliability and have always had good experiences with them.

  • Wow this sucks! I hope it is temporary…

I checked a new model Denon receiver that I'd been looking at (2113), was previously ok to ship but not now.

I also checked a random board game, I just had a whole bunch of these delivered (for 15 Euros!) a couple of weeks back. Now not shipping to my location either.

So two completely different product types, both sold by Amazon.de, that were ok to ship not more than two weeks ago.

  • Hopefully they reinstate it soon. Maybe it is just that their allocation for export postage has been exhausted for the months. We will see what happens next week.
If I was being cycnical I should say that all those people who kept complaining about the deals should have rather spent their time buying what they wanted asap. Now it seems to be too late.

    • I hope it's temporary too, but I am not keeping my hopes up.
Well, I'm already blaming myself for not pushing the button last night, so please don't rub it in.

      • I've emailed them (about the Denon AVR in particular) to find out what's going on.

I'm interested to know what response you get from that.

        • I am very sorry to hear that you could not complete your order. It is possible that a system error occured, in this case please remove the adress you wanted to ship to and add it again. This may solve the problem. If it still doesent work please kontakt us again and we will try and help you out. Once again I am very sorry i could not offer a concrete solution to your problem.

  • My order is paid for but when I log in it says it'll ship tomorrow.

I hope they don't cancel it! Do amazon cancel orders?

  • Thankfully my last order must have shipped (.de) just before they put a halt on AU deliveries.
Only took them a couple of hours to process it, have it out the door and send me the Deutsche Post DHL #.

    • I ordered mine last night at 8pm. What time did you order yours?

      • +1

        around 10:45pm

        Lego sets, no TV :)

        • Did you order the TV?

        • Ok cool. Fingered crossed they don't cancel the TV. My daughter would love more (German) Lego. I should have got some too :)

        • 1 more thing. Have you ever ordered something, paid for it, got confirmation of order email and then had your order cancelled by amazon?

        • +1

I've never had anything cancelled, had to wait a while but never cancelled. Mind you I've never purchased a TV etc from them and had them shipped here.

          Fingers crossed they send it.
The deals here are viewable by everyone. So there could have been a truckload of people who are not signed up here who took up the offer.
Maybe they just dont have the stock yet, stuff moves fast if it is in stock. I did have a small delay when purchasing laptops from the UK but I think was them checking the card I used as it wasnt in my name.

      • Btw I ordered the 46" toshiba lcd tv

  • Just tried sending a lego set from .de to a UK address and it wouldn't ship their either.
    Same message as AU.

  • Got my order from amazon germany today
5 kitchen appliances and a trench coat plus wrist and ankle weights and a 10kg vest for $380 delivered =)

  • Kudos to the German efficiency, they are shipping to Australia again.

Should we close this thread? Other EU countries — are they still shipping to Australia? Or maybe we'll leave it here just in case they change their mind again, so we do not need to create yet another thread about Amazon's international shipping.

    • Not sure why you would want to close any threads unless they go against the rules.
Or maybe the there is a limit on how many threads the forum can handle.

      • Because discussions on Amazon shipping has been spanning multiple threads? Well, it's not how many threads the forum can handle, but how many Amazon shipping threads ozbargainers want to handle.

        • I always figured if the subjects were different then each had something to offer.

02/08/2012 - 13:37 One asks if they are still shipping to AU.

2/08/2012 - 15:31 The no more shipping "announcement" could have been merged to an existing thread like the one posted 2hrs earlier.

22 hours 44 min ago. Another asks how to buy from Amazon if they wont ship to AU.

6 hours 49 min ago. Next announces German Amazon is back shipping again. If this thread hadn't had its topic changed it could have been just merged here because it was specifically related to this thread.
A merge may have helped the 2nd reply who asks when they stopped shipping, so obviously those first two "Amazon not shipping" threads went unnoticed by Gomo. :)

After looking at those on the front page, maybe they just needed some merging to alleviate the spanning of multiple threads but perhaps thats not an option.
Otherwise I think those that are no longer relevant naturally disappear down the thread list anyway.

These forums seem to run well and require very little moderation imo and what ever you do is unobtrusive anyway.

  • The shipping to Aus has gone through the roof for buying TV's.
    I purchased a 32' Grundig on 01/08/12,shipping was 40 euro.Now it's 125 euro!
    Am i doing something wrong?

    • No, not your fault. They increased shipping charges. Nothing we can do about it. if you have friends in the country youcould ask them to ship it for you. If you use normal mail (rather than UPS) shipping will be a bit cheaper. However, despite the increase there are some items that are still bargains (see my other posts and other Amazon posts - coffee makers, mixers, projectors, vacuums, food processors etc.).

Consider yourself lucky that you got in before the increase. ;-)
