I bought these two weeks ago and am returning them for the XM5 over ears.

As great as these can be, because their sound is excellent once EQ'd and their ANC is amazing for how small they are- they're held back by two huge things: Comfort and battery life.

Battery life at 7 hours or so, doesn't even get me through a day at the office. Not only that, one dies before the other. About a 30 minute discrepancy, I believe because one does more work than the other under the hood.

And the comfort; these things are just UNBEARABLE. They're fine for the first hour, become painful around then and get worse and worse and worse. I can't STAND these things in my ears. This is mostly due to the foam tip- I tried swapping to the Linkbuds S tips (Seeing as they were also noise cancelling and did a good job- these are silicone tips) and there is a noticeable difference in comfort; but the anc DIPS HARD. Making it feel kind of pointless.

    • Agreed on the comfort bit. I love everything else about these but I get headaches after wearing them for an hour. I've swapped out the tips for a few different silicone ones but the discomfort persists.

Totally agree - I returned mine too - now using Linkbuds S and pretty happy with them.
(my issue was more comfort with the outer ear, not inner)

The latest leak of the Sony WF-1000XM5 might indicate smaller size

  • sorry for the noob question. Can you use the code and use ebay giftcard redeemed using credit card points?

  • +1

Seriously, read their feedback, especially on seconds / refurbs / box-damaged products. it is a lottery; you may get something in perfect condition, or you may get a defective piece of rubbish, after which they'll have you run around. I don't understand the ongoing popularity of Sony's eBay store.

  • Do sony give new tips or earpads on these refurb units?
