  • The 5.7L says it's on sale for 54% off @ $125

    • And it comes with extra Vortex…

      • What do you mean by this?

        • +3

Just a trademark for Vortex™ Plus circulates super-hot air around your food so it cooks evenly and locks in moisture — giving you the crispy, golden texture and delicious taste of deep-fried, without the guilt.

          Unless its got a Dyson motor/fan, I couldn't care less :p

    • +3

5.7 seems to be completely different device. The 4-litre one is simpler, like the cheapest airfryers at Woolies. Which is not bad at all - no idea what are the extra features of the bigger model and they might not be necessary.

      • But going off the videos linked in OPs post, the airfryer referenced in the video is actually the 5.7L. I actually think it's the other way around, the 4L is a random other model by Instance and doesn't related to the model being reviewed in the videos.

        • I didn't see the video, I just saw directly on Amazon that switching between 4 and 5.7 shows two different devices.

  • The larger model is on sale, 30% off.

  • Just add water

I got this and it smelt like plastic for 2 weeks. then i returned it. read the reviews if you dont believe me

    • +12

I bet the plastic smell wouldn't stand a chance when I'm cooking my stuff.

    • +10

I did read the reviews and you gotta do some test cycles or whatever and it’ll be good. According to the manual you’ll be fine! (:

It has like 4.7/5 stars from 300+ reviews. Can’t be that bad.

      • Amazon reviews are pretty much meaningless.

    • +4

I had this issue in the beginning. It goes away after a few use.

Yes I understand it's still concerning. Not here to convince you :)

      • +8

"After a few uses you can barely even smell the cancer any more!"

    • I've heard some air fryers off gassing have killed birds. It's definitely a "thing" with other cookware, the stupid tiny lovable glass cannons.

      • This comment sounds like google translate goes wrong.

    • +1

It literally says in the manual this may happen, that its non toxic and goes away.

  • +1

Instant Pot 5.7L itself was 50% off too at Catch and also Amazon. Went to go buy it when I got home and was back to full price.

  • Can't add 5.7L vortex to the cart through catch, available on edozer for $110, but that store is banned because of spam.

    Beware PFAs

    • +1

Good point, but do you know of any alternatives out there?

  • Kogan space ship air fryers are not too bad, similar priced free delivery models m!

  • +1

    good price, but too little

  • +3

Thanks, OP. I ended up purchasing the 5.7L one for $125 off amazon. I've been curious about trying an air fryer for ages and this made me take the plunge!

    • Me too 😊

    • Looks like it's still on sale this morning too.

  • Thanks OP.

Will do well to replace our 5+ year old one that shart the bed a few months ago and feed 2 light eaters every now and then. ☺️

How do the air fryers compare the the original convection ovens which have a see through glass lid sitting on a large pot? Kmart still sells this type for around $59

  • MY kmart $89 model is all rusted from washing it in my dishwasher so needed someone new, grabbed the larger 5.7L seems like a reasonable price after a quick research and well rated.

    • Wait why do you wash it in the dishwasher? Isn't that not recommended?

      • Its easier and didnt realise it couldn't handle it.

  • Just wondering how does it compare to this smaller instant vortex air fryer ? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/666231

I got this one but thinking of upgrading. It works very well but a tad small.
