Best Robot/Petrol/Electrical Lawnmower

What’s the best robot lawnmower on the market? How much do they cost? Has technology improved with satellite tracking these days?

What’s your experience with them and what would you recommend? Petrol/Electric lawn mowers what would you suggest at a reasonable price as an alternative. Have long grass that requires cutting.

Thanks

Are there any models that weed-n-feed your lawn for you while we're at it?

  • Trevor Long is a longtime owner and speaks highly of the WORX Landroid

    • Too much work setting up by the looks of it. I’m thinking satellite guided.

      • Yes, but the payback is no more mowing - just strimming your edges. Disclaimer: I don't own one, fearful of theft

        • Agreed

Wake me when it can do edges too.

@AustriaBargain: We'll have colonized Mars well before a robot can manage the line feed of a strimmer

  • What about petrol/electrical based lawn mowers? Any recommendations?

      • Ok. Thanks will give it a read.

      @Ozjoey
Respectfully - asking for mower (or near anything) recommendations, without giving literally a single detail about your property is like posting. I need a car - what should I buy? A $500 clunker or a Bugatti Veyron - each might be perfect in lieu of any specific info on the needs. Advise is a GIGO situation, garbage in, garbage out.

So unless you want well meaning guesses, perhaps consider the variables that might be important in selecting a mowing solution & share them with folks willing/able to advise.

This said i find it odd/alarming that you went from 'Need a the best robot mower available' to 'Nah, lets recommend me a manual use one instead - after looking at a very small number of models & using the rationale 'setting it up is too much work'.

Yet you're now up for a normal mower? Which will be much more 'work'. May just be me but feels like you're unsure what you want from the mowing solution (less work? results? cost? longevity? etc) and the core motivation/s behind it - which will make advising you very difficult.

      • hasn't gotten to tractor & slasher yet
        .

    • If you can stay right on top of your mowing and have a relatively small area to deal with, battery options can be considered. But understand the conventional wisdom here is that you need to be mowing regularly to keep the grass short and save battery power. Otherwise, you end up chasing your tail around battery recharges only being able to do part of the job in one go, etc. Petrol avoids this problem.

In terms of specific models, it's almost a matter of how much do want to spend vs. what's the job you're trying to get done.

  • As I suspected, OP seems 'very' serious about this - not sure why folks post up asking total strangers to give up their time to assist them when clearly they are anything but ready to be assisted.
