I must say that their prices are such a rip off, that it doesn’t become a saving at all.

Your Peace of Mind service will include:

    BOS Wheel Balance
    Oil Filter
    Engine Oil
    JAX Roadside Assistance
    $289

I can go to any mechanic and get a proper oil change and filter change for around $70, or do it myself for slightly cheaper. So I’m supposed to pay 219 for wheel balance and 6 month road side assistance?

Which mechanic is charging $70 for labour, 5+ Litre of engine oil and filter?

      May be decade ago!

      • I go to Melli Mechanical in Villawood. 6 months ago it was $70, maybe it’s a little more now. I should go see and double check the price on next service.

        • This sounds such good value. Do I turn left or right leaving Brisbane?

    • can go to any mechanic and get a proper oil change and filter change for around $70,

Do you also own a time machine?
Mechanics offering their labour, ~4 to 5L of engine oil, and oil filter for $70. If you say so.

      • In Adelaide, I am aware of a couple places that offer set services for around $70. Mineral oil costs $10 to $15 and filters $8 when purchased in bulk, so $70 is reasonable, but I believe they do it to encourage customers to perform further repairs for a profit when the time arises.

  • Thanks for posting but very expensive oil change and 6 months roadside assistance. "Peace of mind service" came up at $350. Mycar.com.au (ex Kmart now owned by Continental) do the service for $200 or $250 if you want 12months roadside assist.

    • I did my logbook service from mycar lastime they were offereing $200 discount. It was ok but they used semi synthetic oil in my car which is not recommended by my manufacturer. Not sure how that works.

      • Thats good to know. I was going to ask them what they use. Would cost me $100 for oil and $30 for a filter to do it myself.

I offered to buy the oil myself and requested to deduct the oil price but was told i cannot supply my oil or any other parts and have to buy from them. Also the roadside assistance only will tow the car to mycar no other shop.

  • Got a log book quote that include service, wheel alignment, roadside assistance, fuel filter and timing belt for $940. Seemed reasonable give the timing belt alone may likely be around that.

    • I'd still look around cos I had all that done for like 750 a few years back
