  • Anyone comment on how these are compared to normal fans or Vornado units for cooling?

I usually run it in level2 during the day when Iam working. on lvl1 at night when sleeping.
The noise after lvl3 is unbearable for me.

I use it a lot more during winter. It is quite good as a heater IMO.

    • These got filters, made by dyson hense expensive.

      • You don't have to buy it from Dyson. I got my generic ones off eBay and it works fine

    • Own both a TP04 and HP04, and they're mediocre as fans, perhaps due to the filtration inevitably restricting airflow (not sure how ordinary Dyson fans perform). An ordinary pedestal fan or Vornado will blow more air while having a less annoying noise profile.

Just to add to the comments on other issues, we have had the high-pitched noise problem (comes and goes, and depends on fan speed). As purifiers, they were effective for us during the 2019 bushfires, but they don't rank highly in Choice's tests (the top performers are $500+ dedicated units).

  • I've been looking for a fan heater for our undercover patio area. Can anyone comment on how these would compare to a regular ceramic fan heater like this from DeLonghi? https://www.delonghi.com/en-au/hfx65v20-tower-ceramic-fan-he…

I wouldn't really need the air purification of the Dyson, so thinking it's overkill.

    • One radiate heat and other blow / circulate hot air

    • Those two are all the kind that blows hot air.
For outdoor use, you really want one that radiates heat (like those reddish lamps and a gas fireplace) unless you want to be continuously blasted with hot air which will make you uncomfortable soon.

Dont buy dyson fans. Filtration is below average. Fan develops annoying high pitched sounds after a while even after thorough cleaning. Mine is just collecting dust. (No pun intended)

Using all vornado fans now and separate xiaomi purifiers.

    • I don't know where you got your info, Dyson manage to make the orange air (around 500+ppm)/to clear during the Canberra bushfire.
And for high pitch noise at a lower speed, that's a defeat, contact Dyson, got mine fixed during the warranty.

      • From all the independent tests and reviews done and the specs. It has a very low cadr for its price. Im not saying it doesnt work, others which are half the price or more will perform better in filtration.

        • I agree with the price, but this comes with tons of features, not just a purifier that sits in the corner, for that I would just go for Xiaomi.

    • I had 6 replacement HP04 units and then Dyson refunded me. They all developed this noise issue and were unbearable to be around for any period of time. Avoid them, they are not well engineered like their vacuums.

      • Agreed. My vac stick is still Dyson though but will never buy their purifiers and fans again.

  • I have two HP03. It was $399 last time on ebay dyson deal. It is OK for the fans and heat function. But purify function, you better have other brand.

    • And one of my Hp03 get a red flashing error when I press I/O button from the machine or remote control. But it works when I click "On" from Dyson APP. I have no idea why.

This 5-minute video might be worthwhile viewing for anyone interested in these Dyson fan/purifier machines. Worth noting that while both products aren't the same model, they are similar enough to warrant linking the video as a sort of buyers beware. $500 is obviously a lot of money.

  • I use it. Decent cooling and heating. I don't mind the noise at all.

  • Anyone else find that it makes a squeaking noise when set to oscillate?

    • Yeah. It gets worse overtime. I cleaned it thoroughly as Dyson suggested but it never improved. It’s so annoying to use I just stopped using mine.

  • These are so old. Don’t know why they are still selling it.
