1042

I asked TA if he could give me any details for Amazon, given I spotted it in the CR newsletter the other day, and he came back with the goods!

Here goes for Cashrewards Day!

Category Upsized Rate Old Rate
Home Entertainment 20% 7%
Apparel 20% 7%
Furniture 15% 6.3%
Amazon Devices (Echo, Fire Tablets, Fire TV, Kindle E-readers, Ring Smart Security, Eero Mesh Wi-Fi. Exclusions: Non Echo Devices with Alexa, Kindle Digital eBooks, Non Amazon-branded Accessories, Audible Audiobooks) 15% 7%
Shoes, Handbags & Accessories 15% 6.3%
Premium Beauty 10% 3.5%
Sports & Outdoors 10% 2.1%

Some good upsizing's there and remember, it's a $30 cap per transaction not per member! So make as many transactions as you want!

Hmm Home Entertainment. I assume that's just TV, sound systems, etc? As there's not "Home Entertainment" in the Amazon department drop down list.

    • +2

Yes, this needs clarification. There isn't a category called "Home Entertainment".

    • Home entertainment so hifi, TV, home theatre sounds systems but not gaming consoles and media players I guess

      • How about audio converter?

        • Doesn't seem included, as under electronic.

    • TVs, Projectors, Home Theatre Systems, Amplifiers

      Exclusions: Speakers, Bluetooth Speakers, Headphones

      • Nope these are 'electronics'- 0% cashback

    • +15

It's never clear with Amazon - you're safer assuming that the Cashback doesn't apply

  • I knew there was gonna be an Amazon cashback deal. We are due for one. Thanks HamBoi :)

  • +31

It’s a lottery to get any Amazon Cashback

    • +7

      Yes, gamble responsibly.

    • +3

That's why I dont bother anymore for Amazon.

  • What does watches fall under?

    • Fashion - might be shoes, handbags and accessories

    • Mobile phones and wearable tech which is 0%

      • +7

that's only for smart watches. dumb watches fall under different category

  • quilton falls under what category lol

  • +1

so a soundbar isnt home entertainment if it's in "electronics" and so is 0%?

    • +1

      Speaker brackets? electronics.

      • -1

        Home theatre systems?

  • +1

What category does Pokemon cards come under?

    • Toys

    • +4

      In our house, couch cushions

  • What on earth can i buy in the home entertainment category? Not headphones or sound bars. Or is it a pretty useless category?

    • +2

TVs, Projectors, Home Theatre Systems, Amplifiers

      Exclusions: Speakers, Bluetooth Speakers, Headphones

      • I'd say part of the issue here is the $30 Cap, which means anything above $150 (excluding GST) starts eating into the discount percentage.

Most of the home entertainment items above don't even start near $165 (Gst included), so it could be a case where the old 7% cashback, might work out better as say for example you buy a $1000 TV, with the capping, you only get $30, but with the previous possibly Uncapped amount you'd get $63.64

Good thing is no headache of partial use of gift card etc. Such a relief that I can pay full in gift card and still get cashback 😀

  • Is Jewelry excluded ? Last time accessories were included except for Jewelry but when I checked some leather bracelet they were under Jewelry category

  • +3

    Too many excluded categories.

    • +12

The problem is you can't even tell what's INCLUDED in home entertainment. Since its not a category you can browse to.

    • +3

      Why the upvote then?

  • +1

How about Nvidia shield pro is that home entertainment

  • So max $150 for $20 cashback…. and too much exclusions

  • +6

If you had to speculate - Amazon ensures that the Cashback categories don't match their own (except Amazon devices of course) for max discretion to pick and choose what fits in the background. Problem is that buyers go in assuming Cashback. Pretty shite approach if you ask me, probably shouldn't post them.

    • It called "review merging". Taking an old product listing and making edits to reflect a different product but maintaining the reviews and SEO amazon.

  • +1

If the item is out of stock but dispatched as soon as it comes in, will the upsized cash rate apply or not as you aren't charged till later?

  • +5

How tf am I supposed to know if a certain item is under those categories? The whole thing seems designed to be confusing af

    • +3

Seriously, how do you know on which category a certain item is under?

    • I think their web page shows it but I too couldn't find it in the app. I agree it is the most confusing webpage design I have seen.

  • Kitchen not included?

    • 1.4%

  • Echo Show 5 worth it? $67 after cashback

  • Annoying that remote control hubs are listed under home improvement instead of home entertainment

    • home entertainment

I don't think there is one call home entertainment

  • It's been 16 hours and still not tracked. I feel like this is one im gonna need to chase :(

    • It usually takes 24-48 hours.

      • Yeah I know. They say its up to 2 days. But generally once it gets to 24 hours and still not tracked, its probably lost the tracking. Although CR is always pretty good when you do chase them up for it.

  • does the google chromecast with google tv fall under home entertainment?

  • You would think Movies fall under "Home entertainment" but sadly no. Declined.
It would have been a tiny payout too, compared to say a Home Theatre system.
