Yeah that's what I've been reading in comments as well. Terrible reliability.
One dude had been through 3 as well and seemed to be happy with Kogan sending them a replacement every 6 months.
Just to give people an idea of what to expect.Same here. I ended up spraying some contact cleaner on the faulty keys (actually under them and pressing the stems several times) and it fixed the issue. It has been working fine for at least a couple of years now.
I should clarify that I would buy at this price again. I know several people with these kogan keyboards and are happy with them and at least they're better than a membrane keyboard.
$22 soldeing iron kit on eBay + $4 for 10 outemu switches and you will have all three working again.
Also add a 5 minute soldering youtube video if you have no idea haha
Bought two for the kids and both had keystroke issues within 8 months or so. Not recommended to anyone for this.
Can the RGB on the keyboard be changed to a single colour?
Just the pattern of flashing/brightness. The colours are fixed.
Thanks for sharing
Yeah i went throught two of these and gave up. You get what you pay for.
Sounds like lots of bad experiences from these comments. My first one many years ago had a dodgy shift key (stabilizer issue) and kogan sent me a whole new one after a warranty claim. About a year or 2 later I bought 2 more. I now own 4 (one with a slightly dodgy shift key) at a total cost of under $75. I would definitely recommend them at this price, but I've never used any as my primary keyboard.
i used this (blue switch) as my primary keyboard for about 1.5 years. as is expected, i got one inconsistent key but since it was the shift key, it was tolerable. i since upgraded to a razer blackwidow v3 and while that's nicer, i did miss the caps lock key lighting up if it was on that the kogan had. you really don't appreciate it until you go to a board where the status light is on the other side of the damn key.
I've got both the red and blue switch versions of these and both keyboards have been in use daily for ~2 years. They see at least 8-10 hours of use per day. No issues at all yet. At $20 each they are definitely worth having around.
I really like the keyboard layout - it's perfect for coding since the arrows keys, ins, del, home, end, pg up/down, print scr etc. keys are exactly where they should be. No wasted desk space due to numpad on the right.
I have three of those sitting at home with single unresponsive keys on each of them.
Bought one, 2 warranty replacements. Lasted me 1 yr in total. ;)
