  • Have they discontinued the salt and vinegar flavour?

    • Probably discontinued as not shown in the Cobs product range on website

      Still selling at Amazon

When I linked both pages (Cobs and Amazon) earlier, OzB deleted immediately even though I'm not affiliated
      Don't know what happened

      • Amazon are charging way over RRP,lmao. I'll just buy some seasoning off eBay.

Don't recommend the Sea Salted Caramel one, did not enjoy it. Stick to the classics

I would avoid the cheddar cheese as well.

Sweet & salty is the best one

Pop it yourself. Much cheaper. $1.95 for 400g, $3.30 for 1Kg @ Woolies. Coles has significantly lowered and locked the price on the 400g package till the 11th of April. The Woolies price is slightly lower since I last checked in store. Save up for a pop corn popper? Perhaps buying a $39 Anko air fryer Kmart is a better idea if you can still get one.

    • I just pop popcorn in a pan. But something like this is convenient and time saving, $1.50/bag is a great price.

    • I just pop it on the stove too the rare times I have popcorn but that usually results in some kernels being burnt while others are unpopped and then there is clean up to do, Years ago, I suppose before microwave ovens became as common as they are now, you could get disposable foil pans with a nice foil bubble forming as the folded foil cover unfolded due to the build up of hot air.

My problem is that on a per-weight basis pre-popped popcorn costs more than other snack foods that are harder to prepare. At $1.50/bag that is $1.25 per 100gm assuming one can get the larger size bag ($1.88/100g for the 80g bag.) Aldi plain crisps used to cost $2 for 230g ($0.87/100g) before they went out of stock, my most recent purchase as at $2.69 for 230g which is a huge hike which brings them to $1.17/100g which admittedly is getting close to costs of the larger popcorn bags. On that basis the popcorn deal isn't that bad so perhaps I could justify buying a couple of bags but on the other hand Coles is still selling their Cheese Tubes at $1.50 for a 170g bag ($0.88/100g) (while Aldi has upped the price on their Cheezels clone).

If you think I have a problem with popcorn I have what I think is a bigger problem with ice cream where you are paying for air which disappears unless your freezer is cold enough. At least the popcorn people still label their product with a weight. I doubt the ice cream people list air as an ingredient.

  • Tried the Cheddar Cheese variation, it was eh. Just ok, nothing special IMO. Are the other flavours better?

    • Avoid the butter one - too bland

Can't go past sweet and salty per comment above

  • I love the sea salted caramel one. So damn good! Have a packet of the cheddar in the cupboard at the moment. Seems like they aren't too popular. Will see. :)
