Would a 33w PD Charger Work with an Ultrabook?

Hey guys,

Long story short, I want to buy a compact charger for some odd uses with my Dell Latitude. The laptop is rated max at 65w charging (20v-3.25A) and obviously a GaN charger would work best. However, I am only planning to use it occasionally when I am on the move (ie. not at home or in the office) so I am trying to look for something basic/cheap.

I notice that there some PD chargers that are rated at 33w (20v-1.67A) floating around eBay or Aliexpress. Just wondering if anyone has tired them on their laptops and if they can at least keep the battery level from dropping under light/moderate usage?

Any feedback is welcome.

TIA

  • yes, these work fine with the new macbooks as their power consumption is peanuts. My old XPS13 would normally consume around 30-35w so using this type of charger would be a borderline - I would suggest to go with a 65W gan instead.

    • Brilliant, thanks for the feedback mate. What's your compact charger rated (for the borderline charging the XPS) if you don't mind me asking?

i've got 65W anker highly recommend to go with this one, alternatively they got a 30 or 35w version as well.

I've also tried heymix, zyron and few other options that were not good.

Beside Anker - i've got a travel one called minix neo p1 66W which has been working as my spare charger for the last 2 years

I have a tiny 35W Heymix PD charger, which works with a 13" Latitude.
I get warnings from the BIOS and Windows that it is not the proper 65W, but it still works. Just takes longer to charge.
Better than carrying the heavy original 65W charger "just in case".

Its a Heymix, so I'd probably not leave it charging overnight :-) It gets hot, but you have to expect that from something so small, even 35W GaN.
