    Wonder if it'll ever arrive

    • +11

pay $15 to get it express delievered.

      • +5

        …in 2 weeks

        • +1

          ..Probably

          • +6

@superm86: Sorry we missed you, you can pick up from the nearest post office with the card

  • +20

What a joke aus post cant deliver by digital mail.

    • +12

they are just doing what they are supposed to do

    • +3

They are not from the paperless department

  • +1

Says one per customer but I was able to make multiple purchases

    • +1

There is a security checks though, just saw the email, so I am not sure if they will catch you from there and cancel any orders more than 1?

      • bought 2 to see if they go through

  • +55

The last two times I bought a gift card from AusPost, they sent them out without activating them. I then had to pay return postage before they would send me a replacement.
Luckily I was able to claim return postage back from PayPal, when they used to offer free returns.
Twice bitten, …. they won't catch me out a third time.

    • +2

      Not digital then?

      • +19

Shows how behind Auspost is….and they complain they are not profitable. They probably have some poor kid manually activating each card

        • Some of their posties spend time complaining about where residents park their cars instead of delivering faster.

Imagine paying thousands of employees to spend 15-30min a day out there sending complaints to the local council.

Then you have competition like private couriers, Amazon, uber delivery, pack and send…

And inside the post office they load up on junk like it's the reject shop.

I wonder why they're not making money?

          • +1

@KnifeEnthusiastBoi: Not sure why you were down voted.

Actually looked at buying a post office recently and…. Yeah just total rubbish, not hard to turn around an individual store but the brand is so poor.

          • @KnifeEnthusiastBoi: No one posts a letter anymore. 99% of mails now are gov or bills. Mailing was what they originated. They decided to switch focus to parcel post.

Most of my delivery has been by them but unsure why they LOST money (and this in 8 year time)

        • +5

I think about complaints about the profits of a public service should be met with aggressive and violent resistance.

Like how that idiot Liberal member wanted to privatise sewerage treatment.

I don't care if they lose money, it's a service funded by tax payers for tax payers.

          • @Telios: Post offices are franchised, so hardly a public service.

        • +2

Still waiting on my 3k Cartier watch compliments of the Taxpayer… Christine said she posted it.

          • +1

@buffalo bill: Sucks to be you. She posted it alright..

Straight to her new employer, Team Global Express, as a thank you gift.

Ironic she's doing the exact same job, just for an arguably more shady company.. 🤣

    • +4

It is a hassle. Not doing it.

    • Do Amazon gift cards need to be activated? I got one previously and it worked fine.

      • +6

The store is supposed to activate them. That’s why you can’t walk out with a $1000 of gift cards off the rack in woolies etc without paying. Until they’re activated at the register, they don’t work.

AusPost employs lots of people. In my experience, most are nice people. However, not all of them are the sharpest tools in the shed, including some in their mail order dept. If you check previous deals they have a habit of sending the physical cards out without remembering to activate them first. Ymmv

        • +3

It is not completely unheard of for an online merchant to send unactivated gift cards through the mail.

For example, if you redeem Flybuys points for physical TCN gift cards from the Flybuys Rewards Store (e.g. because you want to take advantage of a bonus points deal), you will be sent unactivated physical TCN gift cards, and you will need to go to an activation website to activate the gift card. That can be a good thing, because I once redeemed a physical gift card from the Flybuys Rewards Store, and it never turned up, which was bad, because the gift card was already activated before it was sent out to me. It took two phone calls (and a stupid amount of time) to get Flybuys to send out a new gift card, because the first person I dealt with from Flybuys insisted that non-delivery of a gift card was not Flybuys’ problem, even though I contacted Flybuys within the two month time limit stipulated in the Rewards terms and conditions

Yes, I realise that your complaint is specifically about with Australia Post, but you make it sound like no company ever provides a customer unactivated gift cards, which is wrong.

I also distinctly remember Australia Post’s website previously stating that anyone placing a bulk gift card order would be sent unactivated gift cards and would need to call a specific phone number to have them activated. (I tried getting evidence of this via the Wayback Machine without any luck.) My guess is that someone stuffed up at Australia Post and sent the wrong type of gift cards to you. I will say it is a bit rough for Australia Post to ask you to pay for return postage when you were sent an unusable gift card…

    • LOL, that's one way to create jobs in an already dieing industry.. 😅 That's some comedic gold.

  • +3

Wonder if it in-store too, will check later

    • +1

Would be great if you could report back 😉

      • +1

Edit: Checked out two AusPost stores near me- one only had variable load type, the other $50 and variable load. Not discounted on either so should be online only per trixieb's comment

    • Yes please let us know!

    • +1

T&Cs: Available physical gift cards purchased online only

    • Unfortunately not on sale in store :(

  • +18

Being a gift card, I assume these are sent by registered post, which means if you aren't home it'll go to your nearest Post Office (which is where you could've bought it from in the first place).

    Oh the irony…

    • +11

My local guys (more than one) just leave every single signature on delivery package at my door.

Had to get a family member to pick up a $3000 package from my door step once.

Started at the start of the pandemic and never changed back.

      • I would actually rather that than the times I've been WFH and the posty decides to ninja up the driveway and pop the paper slip in my door.

        But I don't get $3000 deliveries so I can't really compare

        • +1

          I just get 3000 $1 deliveries.

  • +29

They also have $100 Westfield one for just $105.95. Bargain!

    • +7

      That deserves its own post.

    • +4

How else can they buy watches for all their executives at performance review time

  • is their 4% coles legit?

    • present you can get 4% off Coles via RewardGateway pretty much anytime, I'd say this should be legit.

  • +3

    CBA card won't go through
    Won't let me use Paypal

    :(

EDIT: tried another card, same error. Weird.

"We couldn't process your payment. Please try another payment method."

    EDIT2: sold out

    • +2

Yeah…I had this too. Gave up.

  • +7

It'll only be worth $90 with the current Auspost delivery times.

  • +9

Oh no, I got a phone call about cancellation of my amazon account, they were going to charge me $99, I cancelled after they helped connect to my computer. Guess I'll miss this deal.

  • +1

Not tempting. Why not buy from shopback super swap card.. 2% cashback. 1 mins you can redeem your gift card…

    • +3

because some people don't need it straight away and can wait

    • +1

Shopback does not accpet AMEX to purchase GC….

    • This deal is 5% I'm assuming? (vs 2%?)

  • -4

Is this going to be like the DSE vouchers back in the day?
I'll buy this and then amazon will go out of business / I'll be an unsecured creditor?

    • +6

There's probably about the same amount of chance that you could put solar panels on your roof today and worry the sun won't shine tomorrow. Amazon is orders of magnitude bigger than what DSE ever was.

    • No, AP will forget to activate the card so your unsecured claim will be on AP when they inevitably go under.

    • +2

Are you serious mate? The day they go out of business is the same day life as we know it ends.

  • +1

10% off Amazon gift card @ Aldi was gold

    • Username doesn't checkout…

      • +3

        yeah it does

      • +1

He must be referring to an unshapely bottom

    • +1

Sure was… particularly when you used the Coles Mastercards that were 10% off (from several weeks prior) to buy them. From memory it worked out around 16.7% discount in total (after allowing for the activation charge on the Mastercards).

      • hahaha yeah that was the ultimate stacking even if Aldi had the cc surcharge

  • Unpopular opinion, but I've never understood why people froth over these Amazon 5% off deals.

    • because it's a bargain?

      • Is it though? I’d have said it was the minimum discount to be considered even remotely worthwhile.

    • +1

10% or cbf. Which is why i no longer deal with prezzie.

    • +2

Personally I buy lots of stuff from Amazon. I live regionally. I use S&S and cashbacks to try and maximize savings. I just see it as a bonus if I can get 4-5% extra off because I'd be buying stuff anyway. Even shopping at Woolies if you can get an extra 3% off an essential shop for milk and eggs it's still worth it imho.

  • +1

The last time time I got this, the card was activated and delivered in a good condition. Going to give this a try too

  • hope for 7% or more to stock up and eGift

  • Tried using Amex and wouldn't go through. Re-tried with NAB Visa and all OK.

    • Just chip in my 2cents, my AMEX card works

      • Mine worked too

        • using chrome on mobile, AMEX, the first time it didn't go through. 2nd time the authentication popped up and it went through

  • I went to the post office at Southlands Willetton
Staff do not know about this deal
The shelf had Amazon $50 and variable load cards
    No $100 Amazon gift cards

Edit: Just saw - Available physical gift cards purchased online only

  • +2

    For 5$, free heartache

  • +3

Strange. Says PayPal is accepted but no option for it lol.

  • Good bargain, got two for me and my hubby!

  • +3

$5 not worth the effort - maybe if it was $20 discount

  • What a joke of a deal

  • Anyone else get theirs redirected to the LPO with no attempt at delivery and receive a scam text message from a Russian website to arrange redelivery? I’m convinced that my details were leaked by AusPost so the text message could be targeted.

  • The Auspost site states that Paypal is an "Available payment option", yet there is no option to pay with Paypal. Just saying.

Also when you provide your credit card details, they state their terms and conditions "Your details may be disclosed to our contracted service providers (including providers located in the US) for the purpose of providing this or a related service."

    Again.. just saying.

  • +4

Update: card delivered today activated. Was hand written on the card activated on 8.3.23

    Must've learnt from previous debacles.

  • Received mine. GC are activated. Loaded into my account straight way. No drama
