Mortein PowerGard Crawling Insect Spray Barrier Outdoor 350g is an outdoor barrier spray that protects the family home for up to 9 months by creating a barrier against spiders and crawling insects outside, before they get inside. To provide the best barrier protection, simply spray on non-porous surfaces around the house perimeter, under eaves, around foundations, under window frames, behind downpipes and the underside of guttering, under the house, around sheds in sheltered areas to deter spiders and crawling insects on contact and flush them out from where they hide.

Amazon is selling this 'barrier' product for 49 percent off, with no minimum quantity required. Woolworths are currently selling it for $17.50 and Coles for $12.25 a can. BIG W sells a Mortein indoor product (Powergard Crawling Insect Killer, not outdoor use) for $17.50.

  • Why not wait until it goes 1/2 price, that's what i usually do

Not sure if it’s everywhere, but I found these 2 for $9 at big w a couple weeks ago

      • +1

It was for the 2 pack - looks like they have a 2 pack of a different mortein for $14 tho

Might’ve only been 2 for $9 at big w sunshine

When spraying directly on a Roach, it's not too effective. To increase the efficacy, try putting a lighter in front of the nozzle. They really don't like that. YMMV and be prepared for flight.

    • I had no problem ordering, and free shipping to a house address in Brisbane tomorrow.

Put a house address instead of a po box?

      • +1

        Won't ship to me either….

House address, I don't live in a post box

Try the Aldi one $5 same spec.

    • Outdoor barrier? or Indoors only?

      • +1

Outdoor ,they also have indoor one i buy both .

        • thanks

@puglikesabargain: I use the Aldi barrier Atlas one, under $3 from memory, great stuff. Cheap enough to buy multiples and unload on the critters.

    • +1

Can confirm Aldi one works well. Spiders webs, normal spray then clean them they are there next week, Aldi barrier spray and not there for many months

      • Look at the % chemicals on label, they are all literally identical lol. Pay 4x as much for brand name made overseas. There are different formula types for flying/crawling/etc. but their is an equivalent Aldi/Homebrand version. Pure rort like everything else nowadays. Identical product made in Australia is 5x cheaper but they say we can't make stuff here cause of pay and regulations l.

      • +2

That is good but not the surface or barrier spray (that remains where you spray and stops spiders/insects for many months). The Aldi surface/barrier spray cost approx $5 and has a grip handle to spray instead of a button to push

Beware bugs have a kink now for these sprays and usually say "more daddy" and just crawl away after they are bored. I add some spicyness and use a lighter to burn the cunce instead

    • SO true. The one i sprayed the other day scuttled away and decided to yeet its leg off before going all crispy under my TV unit. I bought the roach bait now and it seems like some of them liked it, i was hoping to eradicate their entire population.

    • Brings back memories when you mentioned about using a lighter lol

    • always wondered what those cockroaches were saying. Always thought it was something in German.

Depending on your comfort levels around chemicals, I'd suggest getting Temprid and spraying that instead, infinitely more effective and longer lasting in outdoor conditions.

    • What’s a good price for 1L of Temprid.
      Is it effective against ants?
Ants are driving me insane despite doing professional pest control 3 months ago?

    • +3

      Agreed
This is also a good product and easily available: https://www.bunnings.com.au/hovex-1l-ultra-lo-odour-termite-…
Been using the same 1L concentrate bottle since 2014 and use it twice a year to spray house perimeter

@bashar20 both these products will work on ants but the issue with ants is when you spray them they tend to distribute and appear to make the problem worse. If you have lots of ants without an obvious food source the food could be termites. If you have indoor ants then the ant-rid drops are very effective but you have to be persistent, it can take weeks of constant baiting to kill the nest and you need to eliminate other food sources.

      • thanks been struggling with ants inside the roof cavity for a while now.

        • Ants generally hang around food so unless your pantry is in the ceiling I'd be getting someone to look for termites

    • is it as simple as diluting and spraying around the house?

      • Yup, get a dedicated manual sprayer from bunnings

This stuff works well for crickets. I had a little patch of garden outside my bedroom window a few places ago that was riddled with the noisy little so-and-so's. A drenching from a can of this stuff and I was back to sleeping in silence.

Very toxic to bees, and bad for the water ways

So are the chemicals used to make the device you typed your message on.
