Not sure posting prescription meds on Ozbargain is a great idea.

      • +4

They ban x rated shops too.
        Healthier than booze

      • +13

Advertising cigarettes is against the law. Advertising alcohol is not.

        • -3

Alcohol causes more deaths than all other drugs combined. If that’s not sufficient reason enough to ban its advertising, then I don’t know what is.

It’s only a matter of time before they ban it, remembering nobody thought cigarette advertising would be halted either.

The problem of course are politicians, who likely enjoy a drink all too often.

Do the research and stop being a sheep.

      • +2

        It's a society thing bud…

Don't try and make sense of it.

        • -1

Researchers have made sense of it - and it causes 7 forms of cancer.

If you want to die a slow and painful death, then continue drinking. It’s your life.

But the taxpayer shouldn’t be forced to bail you out for stupidity, via Medicare, when your health begins failing.

@JeBs: Preaching to the choir mate.

Then throw in skewed road accidents, domestic violence, pub/ nightclub violence etc etc.

Cant tell you why society says its fine, yet say marijuana or Karva is not. Guess prohibition was a shit show. I honestly cant help you with logic.

Dont know why we all want to clog our neurones with fatty acids (which is basically all thats happening, our brains secreting fatty acids to prevent damage from ethanol attack, which we experience as "drunk"). Its a protective mechanism. But we love to give the ole noggin a floggin.

Everyone wants their "cares" shut off (me included) which tells you society is a bit of a mess.

There is no logic…Will spend $150+ a night on ultimately putting it down the toilet…but will crack it when the cost of a burger goes up $3.

But again….it's not.logic…simply society says its fine.

So can only make your own choice and move on. The new zero trend is a step in the right direction (I think). Ive altered my own consumption towards a few zero beers instead.

It’ll get drunk not to worry

  • Cashrewards?

  • expiring tomorrow?

  • Aldi's Irish cream is $15. I'm not a booze snob and find them comparable.

    • +9

It's nice. Great for the price.
But it's not in the same league.

    • Is that one wine based? Bailey’s is Irish whisky based, i believe.

      • +2

        Every…single…Baileys thread

Both Baileys and Aldi's Irish creams are made using neutral spirit. Here's what's in Baileys:

Cream, sugar, spirit, maltodextrin, milk protein, cocoa extract, cocoa flavouring, Irish whisky, colouring E 150b, emulsifier E 471, acidity regulator E 331.

Put another way: UHT cream, white sugar, generic white spirit (not whisky), beverage whitener, with a splash of chocolate flavour (the original was Cadbury's drink mix) and then finally Irish whisky - so little that it comes between cocoa flavouring and the caramel colouring.

If you're paying extra for Baileys because you think you're getting a whisky bang for your buck, you aren't.

        • This is good to know, I think I was mixing up O’Maras or O’Reilly’s Irish cream liqueurs that are wine based.
They aren’t a suitable substitute for a spirit based liqueur.

    • Agree with this. I never believed it at first but after trying I actually prefer this one now. More pleasant for my taste. Though I usually drink it with ice coffee and ice cream

      • Geez hope you have it for breakfast or you'll be awake until 3am.

  • OP a Champ . I've been chasing a decent deal on Baileys for over 2yrs.

  • +3

I managed to place an order via ebay for 4 bottles and was about $65 or something so am very happy! As soon as the deal started I messaged Dan Murphy's live chat to see if I could get some there too, just in case order doesn't get fulfilled. The agent looked at the link and asked for quantity and postcode, and they said they will see if they can price match it. They were gone for about 10 minutes and I was watching the stock on ebay fall, and the second it went out of stock, they replied that they can't price match it as it is OOS. It has never taken more than 2 minutes to get a price match done via Dan Murphy's chat, so I think they purposely waited until it went OOS. Very dodgy from Dan's imo. If they couldnt price match it because it was below cost then that would be understandable, but the bs about being OOS seems a bit sketchy. I got 4 from ebay, so hopefully arrives and this was all frivolous, but what is everyone else's opinions?

    • +5

      Just move on.

      • -2

Doesn't really phase me too much as I placed the order anyway, but just dodgy practices like that don't sit right with me. Just be honest and say you can't price match because below cost, don't make up some bs

        • You both know exactly what’s going on. And you got 4 more bottles than most here. You’re not gonna starve.

    • +1

Same, agent waited for ages and tell me can't price match when website go OOS then proceed to leave the chat.

      • Yeh very dodgy, I sent a follow up email with the chat reference and the item did go back in stock, so will see what they come back with

  • +7
