  DeWalt have released powerstack 18v batteries. Supposedly meant to be smaller, provide more power than the XR batteries - haven't personally used them though.

  Makita is of much higher quality. Dewalt is slowly becoming a very entry level toolset whereas Makita and Milwaukee appear to be competing against each other.

  Quality is comparable, AEG is brushless if that matters to you but comes with one less battery so…it's much of a muchness really.
