Yes I need to read the email multiple times to make sure it's correct — certainly weird hours to run a promo I guess they are just trying to minimise the people taking up this offer. Pretty big discount though.

If the item actually sold out and I missed out then I wouldn't have a problem with it. I attempted to check-out even past the insertion of the coupon code and credit card details well within the allowed reserved time specified in the checkout process. Then to all of a sudden have the "Out of stock" item appear "in stock" after the sale suggests one of those stock status statements is false. That is the problem I have with this whole thing. If it looks like a marketing stunt…smells like a marketing stunt…

It does sound like Jim was just unlucky to miss out, as a developer (not for dealsdirect) you have to perform two stock checks, one when displaying/listing the item and/or adding to cart and finally, you may wish to perform one when placing the order (before taking payment) - due to the time delay between both actions. This saves the customer from frustration later on once payment is taken.
The stock isn't necessarily reserved, much like "Buy it now" in ebay where stock isn't reserved until you pay (or agree to pay). It's still possible (but highly unlikely) after this payment is taken that the item could be out of stock, if two people order at the same time.
The stock isn't reserved for you as this is quite complex to implement. The reserved time just indicates that your session is still active and your cart data is held.

My DC23 has been going strong for nearly 4 years now and never had a single hiccup (fortnightly vacuuming of a 3bdr home). Don't expect it to break any time soon either!
If its Dyson warranty, then yes its worth it, Dyson's warranty process are very good, they just replace it straight away, they dont even wait for the damaged items to be returned first.
Yup it's dyson warranty. Still considering it. Can be purchased anytime within 2 years of the manufacturer warranty.
I think it really depends on how often and how hard do you use it. Otherwise, normal warranty is ok.
Got an email from Powerbuy this morning saying that the cashback for $70 has been processed. Checked on the site and it's saying the same thing. doesn't show up in my account yet but will give it a few days.
with that said, I haven't received any of my order as of yet but the order status on dealsdirect did say that it was partially shipped as of Tuesday and then changed in status to order shipped when I checked today (been checking daily). so should hopefully get it some time soon :-)
So why the hell was my vote 'revoked'?? i had a perfectly valid reason: site kept crashing every time i tried to put an order through.. that and i think it was pretty dodgy to say something was out of stock while the coupon was active, then magically have it back in stock when 10am ticked over… [-]
