Sounds like with your type of floors you'd be interested in the mopping function too. The S7 has a vibration feature that "scrubs" the floor rather than dragging a wet cloth around. I'm not sure about the Ecovacs.
I'm waiting on the S7 Maxv Ultra to drop in price with the S8 release. Unless the S8 is not marginally more expensive and there are some improvements from the S8.

when is the S8 coming out? I want the mopping function as first priority, vac secondary

      • speculated Q2 this year.

        • But then they'll release a dock 6 months later, and then the max V version another 6-12 months later…

    • wouldnt ecovacs omni be better then? it has this rotating mop which is probably better than vibration

I have the S7 Maxv with the ultra dock with floorboards and tiles plus a rug. I also have a dog that sheds a reasonable amount. My only criticism for the roborock is the auto emptying can sometimes fail depending on how much dog hair is around the place, but there are workarounds like scheduling the cleaning to be room by room etc. Otherwise it is great and you don't notice how much the mopping helps until you empty the dirty water, its great.

I feel you should get neither, either go for a hardfloor centric robo vac like below or wait for one that can connect to your tap for auto empty and refill function

    • look interesting I will check out some review

  • I purchased a Ecovacs deebot t8 aivi brand new when they first arrived for 2k.

It’s been nothing but headaches. Map constantly needs to be reset. Sensor problems. Managed to snap the spinning sweeper one run and had to send in for repair. Surprise it had JUST run out of warranty.

Purchased a second one and within a month. Exact same issues.
Did some research, so many people with the same problems, particularly with the sensor issues/map rotating.

Ecovacs have horrible help and support.

Purchased mum a Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra.
    It has been flawless.
I’m now going for the S8 MaxV Ultra for myself.

Would recommend avoiding Ecovas at all costs. Never looking back.
    Roborock is the way.
